Gisele Nivon

In Loving Memory of Gisele Nivon

With profound sadness and love, we announce the peaceful passing of Gisele Nivon on May 2, 2025.  Born in Spalding, Saskatchewan, to Noel and Marie Nivon, Gisele was one of seven children raised in a close-knit family where the values of love, hard work, and perseverance ran deep.

She went on to build a beautiful family raising four children and later becoming a proud and devoted grandma – roles she embraced with boundless love.

Gisele was a lifelong lover of books—always with a novel in hand or, more recently, an audiobook playing in her ears. She found joy and peace in nature, especially in the community garden she lovingly tended with her daughter Jennifer. Her hands were rarely still—whether crocheting and knitting or baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, apple pies, and cinnamon buns for her loved ones.

Gisele had a passion for travel and a strong spirit of independence. One of her most cherished adventures was checking off a bucket-list dream: a road trip to Alaska. A camping trip was always met with enthusiasm where she enjoyed sitting around the campfire sharing stories. She had a gift for creating comfort and connection, whether through her cooking, her conversation, or simply her presence.

Messages of Condolence

She never hesitated me calling her Grandma, she didn’t even question it and that warmed my heart, I will miss her very much and will remember the love she shared with me  ~ Mat McDonald

Gisele was truly a wonderful Gramma to our son Aiden. I will always be grateful for the efforts she made to be at his birthdays each year and summer holidays. I will forever be grateful to her to have been there for me while my Mom was passing. She came to stay with Aiden when he was only 11 weeks old so that I could return to the hospital to be with my Mom in her final moments. We truly have that in common …the love of our family and willingness to help whenever possible. We will truly miss you.  ~ Rhonda Lipka

I had the absolute honour to know of Gisele Nivon from her daughter, Jennifer Lipka. Being Jennifer’s friend and a witness to her compassion, integrity, and kindness has shown me that those amazing qualities could only have been nurtured by an awe-inspiring mother. Gisele raised a wonderful daughter and she will be missed by all her loved ones.  ~ Batoule Hyjazie

Giselle was always so warm and welcoming whenever we crossed paths. Every time we spoke, she made me feel like I mattered. I’ll remember her kindness, her calm presence, and the way even my dog, June, would settle right beside her. She had a quiet grace that made people and animals feel at ease. It was clear how deeply she loved her children, and the joy and pride she carried at Jennifer's wedding, summer BBQs, Halloween parties, and holiday gatherings.  ~ Chelsea Gowton

I will cherish my favourite memories of my mom which include our morning breakfast together almost everyday - porridge and strawberries, our favourite. We often walked around the neighbourhood together where we would talk and share our problems and advice. I’ll never forget how happy my mom was when I told her that Neil and I were engaged and when we got pregnant. The last thing we talked about was how she thought I would be a good mom (because of her) and that I took good care of her while she was sick. I can’t believe she’s gone and I miss her so much. There was so much more that I wanted to share with her and I wish we had more time together. She was the best mom to me.  ~ Jennifer

Sincerest condolences to her girls and her family! Gisèle was this gentle, kind and lovely young girl that I had the pleasure of knowing and growing up with. We lost touch of one another after high school but briefly reconnected through social media a couple years ago enabling us to catch up on where our lives had taken us over the years.  It was shocking and so sad to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.  ~ Gilbert Plamondon

You were an Auntie to us.  I will remember your visits to our farm with your daughters Sara and Jennifer and also your brother Albert.  I remember the one time you came for a visit with your brother Albert and you were going to a wedding with your sister Muriel.  You just happened to forget your shoes to go with your dress.  I asked what size your feet were.  So I went and got out a pair of my fancy shoes and they fit!  I was so happy they fit you and let you borrow them!  I will have this memory of you forever.  We will miss you dearly. ~ Roxane Nivon

I had the honour of knowing Gisele through her daughters Jennifer and Sara. In our early 20s, Jennifer and I were inseparable and I spent many hours at their home watching movies, playing videos games, or just hanging about. Gisele was always so kind and welcoming to me and always included me. I loved spending time with her and the family whether we were going camping or just hanging around the house. She always made me feel part of something and I’m so grateful she was a part of my life in some way. She will be greatly missed and not forgotten.  ~ Sara Georgees

I think of you everyday mom. The raspberries are ready in the backyard. I wish you were here.   ~ Pamela Nam
