Gerald “Jerry” Leo Janz

January 17, 1935 – August 18, 2026

It is with sadness that the family of Gerald “Jerry” Leo Janz announces his passing on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the age of 91 years.  Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Edith Janz, and his brother, Brian Janz. He is survived by his loving wife, Inez; his daughter, Sherry, and her family, Nicole and Michael, Sydney and Keir; his son, Darwin, and his family, Angela, Janelle and Craig, Sarah and Nash; and his sister, Sharon Bowie.

Jerry enjoyed a long and accomplished career as an automotive painter, including running the paint shop at Percival Motors and serving as head painter for other shops. With his keen eye and understanding for colour, he later combined this craft with his interest of photography and operated a custom photographic print lab well into his 70s.

 Music was also an important part of Jerry’s life. In his younger years, he played steel guitar in a dance band, and later in life he returned to the instrument, building his own steel guitars with the same care and craftsmanship he brought to everything he created. He spent many enjoyable years accompanying the Heritage Fiddlers, sharing music at seniors’ homes and other venues. Jerry was a dedicated supporter of the Regina Motocross Club, serving as president and as the Saskatchewan Motocross Region head referee. He was a positive influence in the motocross community and was respected for his strong commitment to fair competition. Jerry had many interests, including hunting, fishing, training retriever dogs, camping trips and woodworking. A true craftsman, he had made a round oak table, China cabinet, various other tables and he even made his own wooden fishing boat. Above all, Jerry treasured time spent with his family, and he will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.

At the family’s request, there will be no formal service. A private celebration of Jerry’s life will be held by the family. Flowers are gratefully declined.
