George Beckett

With sadness, we announce the passing of George William Beckett of Regina on June 5, 2025 at the age of 89 after suffering some years with dementia. George was predeceased by father Jack Beckett, mother Lillian Beckett, sister Hilda Shore, brother in law Ralph Shore and brother Fred Beckett. George is survived by his wife Bev, children, Craig (Aline), Grant (Mei) and Janine, grandchildren Caitlynn (Scott), Ashley (Kallan), Miranda, Owen and Quinn, sisters in law Val Simons, Rilla Holowatuk (Wes) and brother in law Raye Bjelland (Gloria). He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
George was born in Regina, August 21, 1935, attended Connaught and Balfour schools and went on to a 36 year career with SaskTel in varying roles, retiring in 1990. Often motivated by family involvement, George was active in community service organizations including Scouts Canada, Regina South Zone Recreation, City of Regina Recreation Board, Western Canada Games Committee, Bulyea Hall Committee and Strasbourg Housing Committee.
George's hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, car restoration, carpentry, boat building and travelling which he shared with family and friends. Time spent with family was always very special to George. George lived most of his life in the city of Regina but spent 20 years of retirement on an acreage near Bulyea, Sk.
An informal gathering of family and friends of George will be held to celebrate his life, in the Fellowship Room at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, July 19 from 1:30-4:00p.m. Please use the northwest entrance. This celebration of life will include a short program at approximately 2:30 p.m. where there will be an opportunity to share stories and memories. Flowers are gratefully declined; however, for those so wishing, a donation in George’s honour can be made to the charity of your choice.
