Connie Anne (nee Montgomery) Funke

Connie passed away on March 10, 2013 after a hard fought battle against cancer.  She was a young 61. Connie was born on May 2, 1951 in Calgary,  Alberta, the first child of Neil and Ruth Montgomery.  She grew up and attended all her schooling in Calgary with the exception of 3 years when she lived in Honolulu, Hawaii and took her interior design degree with honors.  She graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in computer science but her passion was interior design.  She worked in the interior design field her whole career and she had an eye for what worked in houses.  She began painting as well and her watercolors are gorgeous.  She enjoyed gardening and had gradually turned the front of her house from lawn to beautiful gardens.  Connie met her love, Ron, in 1976 and they married in 1981.  They had two wonderful children, Travis (Michelle) and Trent.  She was a loving auntie to many more.  Her and Ron liked to travel – Europe, Mexico, Africa, Asia and British Isles but especially loved her time at the cabin in Windermere where they had just finished building a new vacation home. She leaves the world darker for her loving husband, Ron; her sons, Travis (Michelle) and Trent.  Also left to mourn are her mother, Ruth; her siblings, Elaine (Robert), Doug (Pat) and Murray (Mirella).  Her love extended to all of her family, mother-in-law Rita Funke, brothers-in-law Rob (Bonnie), Ed (Eileen), Gerry, sister-in-law Joan (Gerry); and many nieces and nephews.  She had a large circle of friends who were wonderful in their visitations and support. Connie was predeceased by her father, Neil; her father-in-law, Larry and her nephew, Brandon Maitland.
