Thomas Reginald “Jock” FRIZZELL
May 20, 1933 – January 11, 2022
Reg Frizzell of Calgary, AB, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 88. He will be dearly missed by his wife of over 64 years, Jean; and daughters, Beverly (Jane), Linda (Dean), and Barbara. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Marjorie Frizzell of Moose Jaw, SK.
Reg was born and raised in Moose Jaw. He was an active member of the St Andrews Boys’ Pipe Band and an avid curler. He married Jean, his high school sweetheart, in 1957. That same year, he won the City Amateur Golf Championship and, two years later, he won the 1959 South Saskatchewan Amateur Golf Championship.
As a teen, Reg’s first job was at the CPR. After graduation, his career began at the Moose Jaw Refinery and continued at Husky Oil. After moving the family to Calgary in 1969, he worked at Hardy & Assoc, Nova Chemicals, and then retired from the University of Calgary in 1998.
In his leisure time, Reg loved many outdoor activities like camping, fishing, hunting, archery, and golf. He was also a very talented artist with a passion for carving, painting, and fly tying. He had a vast knowledge of birds and wildlife and had a special bond with his many granddogs. He also had quite a green thumb and was particularly proud of last year’s pepper plants. He was happiest outside in the yard, with his girls and a cold beer.
The Frizzell family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Rockyview Hospital Emergency Care and Cardiac Unit 71 staff for their care and compassion. We will never forget your kindness.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
