Douglas Peter Fraser

May 28, 2019

Douglas Fraser
It is with great sadness that as a family we announce the passing of Douglas  Peter Fraser. Doug passed away on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at Foothills Hospital,  with a number of family and friends by his side. Doug always lived his life exactly  how he wanted to live it, but unfortunately lost a hard-fought battle with cancer at  the age of 67.  Doug was born in the greater Toronto area on August 13th, 1951. Doug met the  love of his life Debra at the age of 16 and he and Debra married on May 26th, 1972.  Shortly after, he and his new bride began their crazy family. Doug and Deb  decided to move to Calgary with their crew in 1987 to join their partners in crime,  sister-in-law Robyn and her husband Bob for a life in Alberta where Doug lived  out the rest of his years.  Doug is survived by his devoted wife Debra of 47 years, his daughter Tonya  (Scott), his son Digger (Jen), and his four grandchildren Morgan, Sarah, Dawson  and Cole who absolutely adored their papa and his sick sense of humour.  Doug enjoyed the last nine years of his life working at his dream job, managing  campgrounds in Kananaskis Country. He and Deb lived in peace and nature,  surrounded by fantastic people, management, co-workers and friends – some of  which were also there right until the end with Doug and his family.  At Doug’s request there will be no funeral or service, as he was adamant that “No  one needs to be crying over me!” In honour of Doug, donations to the Canadian  Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.  Many thank you’s are sent from the family to the doctors, nurses and support  staff at Foothills Hospital for their amazing care of Doug throughout his recent  health struggles, right up until the end of Doug’s life.  “The world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, but the love and  memory of you, shall never pass away.”
