It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dan Fraser on Thursday,
August 8th, 2024, after a brave and brief second battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Shelley, his brothers Dave (Penny) Fraser and Chris (Anita) Fraser, Sister in law Lynne Fraser, Nephews Sean (Jennifer) Fraser, Gregory Fraser, Jeff Fraser, Matthew Fraser and Niece Amanah Fraser. He is predeceased by his adoptive mother Phyllis Fraser, brothers Ted Fraser, Gary Fraser, Randy Calhoun and Michael Fraser.
Dan was born in Moosejaw Saskatchewan and was one of seven boys in the Fraser household. The family moved to Penticton for a few years then Surrey where he graduated.
He met his wife Shelley while they both worked at Smitty’s Pancake House, Surrey Place and were married on April 24, 1976. They decided to live in south Langley and rented 5 acres till they purchased their own little Green Acre in the same area. He and his wife were involved in raising and showing Pinto and Paint Sport Horses for 30 years. They loved all animals including raising pigs from a pet sow (Miss Piggy), to chickens, ducks, cats and dogs.
Dan worked for the B.C. Government Dietary sector, receiving an award for 35 years of service and retiring at 55. Not being one to do nothing he worked part time jobs always outdoors as well as maintaining their little acreage and helping with the horses.
In 2013 they acquired a little dog he named Duchess and who was his constant side kick.
Dan was a kind, generous, witty fellow who enjoyed the great outdoors. Camping was his all-time favorite thing to do, and the camping setup was not complete until the campfire was lit. He, Shelley and Duchess explored many areas and lakes together which Included bike rides, walking trails, boating, canoeing, kayaking and of course, meeting new friends.
He will be very missed by family and friends but especially by Shelley.
His dear little dog Duchess has recently joined him.
Dan had a quiet but strong faith, and we are at peace knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father, and we all look forward to being reunited with him one day.
