March 5th, 1967 – December 14th, 2015
Michel was deeply loved. All who met and knew him were inspired by his optimism and amicable nature. These qualities drew people to him. To see Michel was to see the finest example of how to enjoy life. He could put anyone at ease with his sense of humour and quick wit. Michel took everything in stride which made anyone in his company comfortable and accepted. A true fan of U2, Michel made one of his dreams come true and found the famous “Joshua Tree” during one of his many trips to Las Vegas. Michel is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Yaremy whom he married October 24th, 2015 in Mont Tremblant, Quebec after twenty “happily unmarried” years together. It was a perfect day even more beautiful than either could have dreamed. He was so happy to be surrounded by family, friends and love. Also surviving are his parents, Cecile and Andre Fortier; his brother and sisters and their spouses, Normand L. and Suzanne, Louise A. and Jocelyn, Sylvie Marie and Denise all of Montreal, Quebec; cherished nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; parents-in-law, Gene and Tina Yaremy; his brother-in-law, Brent as well as so many friends! Although cancer related complications took his life, the illness never defined Michel. He faced the challenges of the disease with grace. Michel was thankful to all health care professionals who gave him hope and strength through each step he faced and cared for him over the last 6 years. In lieu of flowers, Michel would appreciate your help in continuing cancer research through your donations to the Canadian Cancer Society – Quebec Division, 5151 De l’assomption Blvd., Montreal, Quebec, H1T 4A9. A Celebration of Michel’s Life will be planned at a later date.
