Florence Victoria Detillieux
December 27, 2025
It is with great sadness that we inform you that Florence Detillieux passed away in the early hours of December 27, at Regina Pasqua hospital.
She was born May 24th, 1936 and grew up in Viscount, SK where she spent the majority of her youth. She was a teacher, librarian as well as helped out on the family farm. She eventually met Guy Detillieux, then after marrying she moved to Vonda, Sk, where they started a family and had two children. Chantale and D’Arcy.
Growing up with 3 brothers: Florent, Louis and Raoul, she was inherently a strong independent woman. Which Florence used to fill many roles in her life from; Mother, sister, farm wife, teacher, librarian, singer, actress, volunteer and musician. Florence’s musical talent wasn’t only used for herself but impacted many people. She directed the Vonda church choir for many years, sang in the St Martyr church choir, acted and sang in a few local shows and plays. Everywhere she went when people got wind of her talent she became the go to person for whatever music help they needed.
When she had any spare time you’d find her in one of her two gardens, playing piano, spending time with and teaching the dogs new tricks, dancing up a storm, enjoying the process of haggling somebody for some type of clothes or jewelry. Florence’s good will also helped many people. From working bingo’s for the church to volunteering at various second hand stores throughout Saskatoon for many years. She never shied away from helping anyone and was very generous with her time, right up until the point where she had none left.
She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
