Florence Jane Battersby

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to our mother Florence (Flo) Battersby, who passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at the age of 88.

Born in Bristol, England, Florence arrived in Canada as a teenager with her mum, dad and sister. She now joins her parents John and Margaret Green, her husband Gregory and their second-born son, Ivan, and her sister, Judy. She leaves behind her son Robert (Dale), daughter Sandra (Luke), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Marco, Elisabeth, and Laura, and several other dear friends and relatives.

We will cherish countless great conversations and shared laughter throughout the years, her obsession with and frequent references to great works of literature, her orange shortbread at Christmas and an unwavering ability to always “make the best of it.”

A private Graveside service and small gathering will take place in the coming days near the family farm.

I will miss your Spring tulips, Flo! Yours were always so beautiful and I hear your encouraging words to keep trying. I'm so happy we took the picture of us in front of last year's blooms and I'm so grateful for your friendship. Heartfelt condolences to the family and I hope that wherever you are now, there's a garden that's always full of sun and colour. XO
