Gord Fletcher, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Born in Winnipeg, MB, Gord was the eldest of three brothers and grew up in a small wartime two bedroom bungalow with all three sharing the second tiny bedroom. Determined to control his destiny, Gord built his own successful printing business, working many decades beside his wife Karen, who passed away earlier this year and to whom he was married for over 62 years. Gord was a very hard-working, focussed and serious man. If he was concentrating on something you would be challenged to distract him from it. But he also had an excellent sense of humour and his quick wit could always get everyone laughing.
He was smart, responsible, resilient, and kind, living by many practical and simple tenets…
Plan your work and work your plan.
Cover your bases.
Roll with the punches.
Cast bread upon the water.
Take the swings with the rounds.
Don’t knock off work early unless the building is on fire.
Gord is lovingly remembered by his two children, Christine and Doug (Suzanne); brother, Bill (Doris); five grandchildren, Breanne, Brooklynn (Rich), Deborah (Mike), Emily and Aidan; as well as two great-grandchildren, Riley and Stella.
Ever the optimist, Gord lived a good life and always led by example. Whenever we look ahead we will remember him.
