FLETCHER, Brenda Karen
November 19, 1942 – March 22, 2021
Karen Fletcher, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and beloved wife of Gord Fletcher, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the age of 78 years.
Born in Regina, SK to a large and growing extended family, Karen grew up with many influences from which emerged an intelligent and determined young woman.
In 1959, Karen married Gord Fletcher in Winnipeg, MB and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
After a relatively short time living in Surrey, BC, Gord and Karen moved to Calgary, AB where they have resided since 1970.
Throughout Karen’s life she enjoyed many professional pursuits culminating in the financial controller position in the family printing business for over 20 years.
Over the years, Karen and Gord travelled the world together, usually on cruise ships, and being friendly and curious, were always keen to meet the many new people they encountered on their journeys.
They also spent much time with their grandchildren as they grew up, taking them skiing, shopping, and on trips to distant places.
All Karen’s grandchildren loved her dearly and have fond memories of a grandmother with a big heart who was never boring to say the least.
Karen is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gord; her two children, Christine and Doug (Suzanne); five grandchildren, Breanne, Deborah (Mike), Brooklynn (Rich), Emily and Aidan; as well as great-grandchild, Riley.
Sadly, Karen faced many health battles this past year. Always a fighter. But in the end… just too exhausted to get up for one more round. We miss her so much.
