Fernand Joseph Finnigan

July 27, 1934 - March 29, 2026

On Sunday, March 29, 2026, Fernand Finnigan passed away peacefully at the age of 91.  He was born on July 27th, 1934 in Rogersville, New Brunswick to Joseph Finnigan and Angelie Doucet and was one of 13 children.

 He was married to Ozina Arseneault on November 10th 1956 and had 6 children, Jeanne (Tony), Roland (Gabe), Bernice (Gary), Diane (Kirk), Roger (Anna) and Linda (Brian).  He is survived by his wife, younger sister Therese, 5 Children, 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Roger, son-in-law Brian, and great granddaughter Laylah.

Fernand moved his family to B.C, in 1959 where he was able to find work at Fraser Mills for a few years and then worked at Canfor a plywood mill to his retirement age of 63. His love for his family was steady, generous and unwavering.  He lived his faith with quiet strength and carried his Catholic values in every act of kindness, every sacrifice and every moment of guidance he offered.   He was a source of comfort, wisdom and laughter to all that were blessed to know him. He loved to gather, play games and share stories.  Some of the activities he enjoyed most were hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and most of all sleeping 😂. You are so loved and will be greatly missed. 

A funeral mass will be held on April 10th, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  828 Laval Square, Coquitlam, BC at 11:00am, followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers the family are requesting a donation  to the Cancer Society in Fernand’s name in honor of his deceased son Roger, which can be done through the Canadian Cancer Society Website: https://cancer.ca/en/
