It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our very beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend, Joye Ewashko. Joye was suddenly taken from us on July 23rd, 2015. Joye is predeceased by her husband Michael Ewashko and her parents Donald and Anne Porteous. She is survived by her three daughters Karen Ewashko, Kim Chisholm, and Kyla Jackson; her most precious grandsons Deon Pickens and Daunte Jackson; her two sisters Iola Chivers of Calgary and Marilyn [Marcel] Bissonnette of Regina; brother-in-law John [Luba] Ewashko of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Mary [Otto] Huber of Regina; well as many nieces and nephews.
Joye was born in the farming community of Markinch/Southey, Saskatchewan and soon thereafter moved with her family to Regina where she attended Thompson Elementary School and then Central High School. She was married to Michael Ewashko on September 15th, 1956 and was a loving mother and housewife. Once her children were grown she returned to work and held a position with the Provincial Government [Dept. of Social Services] for a number of years until she retired in 2003.
She was a most caring and generous person and she will be forever lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, as well as family and friends. Joye’s primary love and focus was always towards her family. She was happiest when she had her family around her, especially the time she spent with her two grandsons. She never hesitated to help anyone who needed it, and was well liked by all who knew her.
A private service will be held by the family. Flowers are gratefully declined.
The amount for some will be more than for others ~ but Joye’s passing has created a void for each of us that will never be filled. We love and will miss you every day Grandma.
