Reverend Dave Eskdale

Dave's death leaves with memories of time spent together working and talking. Because I am an organist, we worked together on regular services, for weddings, and for funerals. He was down to earth, kindness a trait, beloved by everyone. As friends, we discussed topics wide and long. I was happy to provide a lanolin cream for his hands when he suffered with cracks in the winter. The world is a lesser place without Dave. We will remember him with fondness and appreciation for his gifts.

We have many fond memories of Dave, and he served our community very well. We will always remember his quick wit and humour that was part of his every day life. The camping trip in the Kootenays was a hoot back in about 1980,with us and the Dumvilles. Cherish the good memories.

Gloria and family, I was saddened to hear that Rev. Dave had passed away. I have very fond memories from my childhood of Rev. Dave as he was our minister at the United Church in Griffin. While our church was small, Rev. Dave's heart was large. I remember him always laughing and smiling. He filled our church with joy! He provided me with a role model that passed along a message of love, kindness and a zest for life. He will always be remembered in my heart.

My sympathies to the Eskdale family, I was Carol Dunham from Creelman when Dave was the Minister, a man I will never forget and that includes his family. I babysat the family there so when my Dad was sick Dave took Shirley, my sister and I to the hospital to be with Mom, as Dad had surgery, all turned out ok and we appreciated how he helped our family, my heart will be with you as you celebrate Mr Eskdale's, Dave's life, previous commitment that I cannot attend on Wed, many memories .

Our sympathies to the Eskdale family at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. And sorry that we will be unable to attend on Wednesday due to other commitments. Cherish all the memories you have from the years together.

I am and will be thinking of you Gloria and McKenzie and of your mother/grandmother Beryl and your sister/aunt Goldene. May you know comfort and peace in the midst of the sorrow and pain that is part of this loss.

Our condolences to all his family!, We were married in June 1972 by Reverend Eskdale. I left Heward in 1969 to take Nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital. I met Chris there and when we decided to marry in June 1972,I assumed Reverend Clarkson from Stoughton would marry us in the Heward stone Church. He was NOT agreeable to this arrangement as it was closed,so someone suggested Reverend Eskdale in Creelman, We made an appt with him for the next time we were in Heward. Well, he talked with us awhile and asked us many questions and we didn't know the answer to quite a few of the questions he posed. He looked at us and said ' well I cannot marry you (panic) until you have discussed every question I have asked and I have to be satisfied with the answers you give before I agree! We returned to Heward and talked to my parents. Chris and I then left to discuss these good questions ( children, religion, family, money, morals etc }. As it turned out both of us agreed on most things and returned 2 days later for our meeting. He agreed to marry us in the Heward Church. We had a a couple days of panic that he would say ' no'. We were very pleased with him and he would be pleased as well as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary this past June.
