Alexis Darold Eklund

Alexis Darold Eklund, late of Medicine Hat, AB passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the age of 87 years.  Alex was born on January 21, 1925 in Tompkins, SK on the family homestead to Karl and Hilda Eklund.  He married Susan Wells in November 1958.  They had three children.  Alex enlisted in the army at the age of 18 during WWII.  He was a mechanic by trade and could fix anything!  Alex was a guitar player and for many years played in a local band at weddings and dances.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing.  He loved to garden and enjoyed the friendly competition with his neighbour over who had the best produce.  He loved spending time with family and was the head supervisor at all our activities.  He especially loved watching his boys play hockey!  His biggest love might have been sweets and ice cream!  Alex was predeceased by his parents and wife Susan in 1988.  He is survived by his son Preston (Kelly); daughter Shaunee-Jo (Roy); son Darold (Rosey); 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Tompkins Cemetery, Tompkins, SK with Rev. Bev. Diduck officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alexis may be made to a charity of choice.
