Eileen May Adela Fuller (née Quance) - February 16, 1936 – November 10, 2025
Beloved mother of Tim and Patricia Fuller, mother-in-law of Marcela Mancilla and George Dix, and grandmother of Veronica, Richard, Daniel and Kelin, Eileen passed away peacefully at Peach Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC.
Eileen was born in Nelson BC and spent her childhood in the Kootenays, at the family home in Robson and in various small towns where her forester father’s work took the family. She studied History and English at UBC and worked at BC Electric before joining the Department of External Affairs in Ottawa in 1960. She was posted to Bogota, Colombia, where within weeks of her arrival she agreed to a bridge game with a young Englishman as partner. She and her beloved husband Richard Allan Fuller would continue to play bridge together for the next 60 years. They had their children in Bogota and went on to live in Montreal, Trinidad, Argentina and Barbados before returning to Colombia and then retiring to Canada in 1996, collecting many cherished friends along the way.
Eileen volunteered in English teaching schools and libraries, organized and attended lectures for third-age learning and pursued her passions of reading about history and current affairs, as well as bridge strategy. She and Richard loved to host gatherings of friend and family at their Amble Greene home, especially when the grandchildren came along. In her quiet and self-effacing way, Eileen leaves a model of strength, simplicity and kindness for her descendants. She will be greatly missed.
