Dorothy Garside

Dorothy Garside passed away July 10, 2025 after a lengthy illness of dementia. Dorothy was a long time resident of Abbotsford. She is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dorothy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 5, 1934. Her parents were Gustav and Olga Frindt who immigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia and Poland. Dorothy was an elementary school teacher and received her bachelor degree at the University of Alberta and taught in Edmonton and Baden-Baden, Germany where she taught at a Canadian army base. This is where she met her husband, Gary Garside who was teaching at Ramstein air base in Germany. They were married for 50 years.
Dorothy is a believer in Jesus Christ and had a desire to serve Him. Before she went to university, Dorothy served with Win and Ron Peters for 2 years at a home sponsored by the Navigators reaching out to service men in Honolulu, Hawaii. Later she went to Bogota, Colombia, and Caracas, Venezuela serving in short term missions with a Christian organization called Literature Teams. Dorothy was a member of Central Heights Church in Abbotsford and enjoyed the friendship of their small group in the church.
Dorothy loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel to many countries and on various cruises with her husband.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Gary, daughter Gayle Garside, son Richard (Shauna) Garside, and two grandchildren Ollie and Rexford, twin sister Doreen Roller, a nephew David (Katie) Roller, a niece Donna (Travis) Janke and a sister-in-law Jane Frindt, two nephews, Robert and Timothy Frindt. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Gustav and Olga Frindt and brother Robert Frindt.
