Wyatt, Doreen “Deenie” (nee Smalley). May 8, 1944 - April 22, 2026
Deenie passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Regina General Hospital. She leaves behind so many who loved her deeply: her loving husband of 62 years Jim; their children, Linda, Roy (Laura), Glenda (Karl Rhynas), Tim, and Linda’s children (the grands), Joshua (Tiffany) Wyatt, Michael (Sarah) Balog, Shawn (Stephanie Chubala) Balog and Saralynn (Tyler Krelow) Balog, and the great-grandchildren Anna & Seth Wyatt, Rian Balog & Aria Norgaard, and Sawyer Balog; and siblings Aileen Orthner, Eric (Cheryl) Smalley and Nancy (Harry) Serwo and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to family, she will be greatly missed by many friends in Kipling and Regina as well as the congregation of Harmony United Church (Regina). Deenie and Jim were together for an amazing 67 years, meeting when Deenie was just 15. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, beating opponents at Scrabble, as well as enjoying coffee or wine and a good book in the sunshine. She was always kind, generous and welcoming, never hesitating to help a friend, share a recipe or offer a spare bed during a snow storm.
An immense amount of gratitude goes to all those who prayed for our family during this time as well as Regina General Hospital physicians and staff in the Emergency Department, Neurology, 6F High Acuity Area and Unit 3E, together with the Respiratory Therapists. The care, attention and kindness shown to Deenie and her family will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Regina General Hospital (Priority Needs) or the Salvation Army.
A celebration of her life will be held in the summer: a date to be announced in the future.
