Donald Paul Beckett
Actor / Director / Playwright / Jazz Singer / Acting Coach
April 3, 1954 - October 15, 2025
With sadness we tell of the recent passing of Donald Paul Beckett, a free spirit who gave abundantly of himself to the cabaret and theatre scene in Vancouver and also to roles in feature film, TV, and radio. Entertaining was his passion and his joy.
He trained in NYC, Toronto, Vancouver, and Nanaimo.
Career highlights included gigs with small jazz ensembles, as bandleader and vocalist, along with some solo performances, such as in the CBC Radio Drama The Candy Man, and a stage production called Lautrec, about the life and times about Parisian artist Henri Toulousse Lautrec.
And he was a fixture at Vancouver’s Theatre in the Raw events. Not only did he serve as a board member (including as vice president), but he was also a cast member in several TITR productions, including Waiting for Godot, and as Oedipus in Vatzlav.
Predeceased by his parents Gordon Beckett and Bette Beckett, and his brother Peter, he will be missed by his sister, and many beloved cousins, along with all his good friends in the Vancouver theater community.
