It is with great sadness we announce that on Saturday July 27th, 2019 at 7:35 a.m., Mary Nancy Ellen Dobson "Nancy" (nee Howard) passed away in the company of her loving partner Stan and cherished pet Billie. Nancy ended her six-month courageous battle with cancer at the Cascade Hospice Hospital in Chilliwack. Born to Robina Edith Howard (nee Gamble) and William Lambert Howard on January 22, 1937 (82). Nancy will be sadly missed by her partner Stan, and her lovable pet Billie. Nancy was predeceased by her brother Garry Howard and will be dearly missed by her nieces Laura (Bill), Sue, and nephews Leigh and Shawn and her great nieces Emily and Cleo and great nephews Tyler and Lucas. Also, dearly missed by her niece Janet (Derrick), nephew Hugh (Kim), great nephews Joshua, Jacob and Riley, great nieces Laura and Jessica. Nancy loved to travel, photograph, paint and socialize.

Her warm smile, and laughter, will be missed

Nancy was born at home, in a little yellow house, in Soperton, Ontario. I was adopted by the Singletons who lived in the farmhouse across the road. My mother took me to see the new baby the day she was born. I was two and a half. Apparently I took Nancy's little hand; we bonded at that moment. Nancy and I grew to together, went to Soperton Public School and Athens High School and remained close friends throughout our lives, keeping in touch and visiting when we could, over the years. We loved each other as sisters and always expressed that love. An 82 year friendship. Nancy was a beautiful person, kind and generous and possessed many gifts of the soul; music (Jazz) appreciation of art, kindness, love of wee Billie, and most of all devotion to and love of her partner, Stan. I shall miss Nancy more that I can express. My condolences to Stan and all of her family. Margaret Singleton

In Probie quarters @KGH, Nancy and her roommate Rosemary Webb lived next door to my roommate Mary Anne Dembroski and me...in such small quarters, we shared all the news, fears, excitement and adventures as first year 9probies. Nancy was always available to listen and offer insightful helpful advice but never unfair negative criticism. In later years during reunions and occasional car trips, Nancy proved to be a wonderful conversationalist with her diverse interests, curiosity, intellect, joyful spirit, love and beauty. Nancy will be remembered.

I worked with Nancy at the Northwestern General Hospital in Toronto. She was one of the warmest, friendliest and caring persons I have ever known or had the privilege to work with side by side. She always looked for the best in people and, to my knowledge, never said an unkind word about anyone. I'm sure she will be missed by all those she loved and who loved her in return. I'm left with only good memories.
