It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Audrey Iona Dirks (nee Cole) on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in her 90th year.  Mom was born in Regina on September 6, 1924, the third of five children to Lena and William Cole. Mom was predeceased by our dad, Allan Clare Dirks on October 15, 2001; her parents; brother; two sisters; and two sisters-in-law. Left to mourn her loss are her son, Douglas Allan Dirks & his wife, Cathryn; their daughters, Lana & Jenna; and their son, Dylan; her daughter, Adele Audrey Dirks & her partner, Alfred Benary; their daughters, Deanna & Ashleigh. Also left to mourn are many nieces and nephews from both the Cole families and the Dirks families. A heart felt thank you to the Staff at the Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary, for the love and care they provided to her while she was a resident and the staff of Pastoral Care who tended to her spiritual health, specifically, Sisters Andrea & Marguerite and to Cassandra who provided emotional support to us during Mom’s final day. Mom will be cremated and placed beside our Dad in the Sylvan Lake Cemetery Field of Honour. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date with a private family inurnment also at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Father Lacombe Care Centre Foundation, 270 Providence Blvd SE, Calgary, AB, T2X 0V6.
