Our beloved Dick Wolters passed peacefully on to our Lord's hands on March 3, 2026 at the Langley Hospice Residence in Langley, BC after a serious injury sustained in October. Predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Lynie (nee Vanderburg - 2004). He will be missed by his children, Ben, Clarence (Caroline) and Nancy (Bob); as well as grandchildren Nicole, Devin, Matt, and Kaitlyn (Nic); and great grandchildren Alivia, Joey, Caleb and Lucy. Dick's great grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and they held a very special place in his heart.

Dick was born to Biense and Boukje Wolters in Rinsumageest, Netherlands on March 15, 1930. He was the eldest of 11 children and is survived by Ida, Clara (Mike), Jennie (Ike), Susan (Mike) and sister in-laws Hennie, Agnes and Sonja; he is predeceased by his brothers Sid, Peter (Ann), Leonard, George, and Garry, sister Nellie (Jerry), and granddaughter Zoë.

Dick and his family moved to Canada in 1950 and settled in Lethbridge, AB. Dick attended tech school in Dokkum before moving to Canada. In his early years in Canada, Dick worked for a contractor building granaries and doing barn repairs. In 1954, he married his loving wife, Lynie, and they went on to have three children.

Dick worked in construction and later started his own drywall company with his two boys working alongside him as they grew up. He had a passion for travel and he and Lynie travelled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. In his later years, after Lynie’s passing, he and his son, Ben, took many road trips throughout BC and Alberta. During his retirement, Dick started a part-time job playing Blackjack, often joking that he had to go to “work.”

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service as per Dick’s request. A celebration of Dick’s life will take place at a later date. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many family and friends for their visits to their Dad while he was in hospital and later in hospice.
