Doug was born on July 18, 1939, only child of Charlie and Jean Day. Doug went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2013 after a brief, courageous battle with cancer, with all of his family at his side. Doug and Lorraine farmed west of Carstairs for nearly fifty years before retiring last May. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, quading and travelling with Lorraine to Parker, Arizona. He was well known for his huge heart and a wonderful sense of humor that will be cherished by all. His dedication and loyalty to his wife, family and friends was insurmountable. He was an honest man through and through who will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Lorraine; his daughter, Cindy (Rod) Havens of Airdrie; his son, Kelly (Connie ) Day of Carstairs; his five grandchildren, Jessika (Jay), Adam (Naydeen), Amber (Andrew), Shane (Leah) and Brandon (Keisha); his two great grandchildren, Jayda and Jaymi and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doug Day may be made to the Rosebud Foundation for Palliative Care at the Didsbury Hospital, Box 962, Didsbury, AB, T0M 0W0. A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Carstairs Community Hall, 1100 Lackner Way Carstairs, AB, with Pastor Ian Mason officiating of the Cremona Congregational Church.
