David Miles

In Loving Memory of David Miles (1942–2026)

David Miles passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026. He was 84 years old.

Born in a small village in Derbyshire, England, in 1942, David was the youngest of three children and remained deeply connected to his family in England throughout his life. As a young man, he excelled as an athlete, setting regional records in discus and taking on long cycling trips across the UK long before such adventures were common.

He later served in the British Royal Air Force and was stationed in Germany, training as an aircraft maintenance engineer and contributing to search and rescue operations, work that shaped both his skill and his character. David’s aviation career eventually brought him to Prince Rupert, British Columbia, where he met Sharon, the love of his life. Together they built a life filled with love, faith, family, travel, and adventure. His career continued with Pacific Western Airlines, Canadian Airlines, and Air Canada, earning him respect for his expertise, reliability, and calm professionalism.

In 1972, David and Sharon purchased a farm in Langley, which quickly became a warm and welcoming gathering place. It hosted relatives, friends, neighbours, animals, barbecues, reunions, and countless memories, all reflecting David’s generous spirit and open‑door hospitality. After retiring, he travelled often with Sharon and devoted himself to his grandchildren, whom he adored. He also cultivated dahlias with great care, sharing their beauty freely with everyone who visited.

David will be remembered for his generous spirit, curiosity, practical skill, devotion to God, and unwavering willingness to help whenever he was needed. He treasured Sharon, his children, and especially his grandchildren. His legacy is one of service, humour, faith, and wholehearted love, a life truly well lived.

He is survived by Sharon; his children, Chris (Sandra) and Shannon (Richard); and his beloved grandchildren Naomi, Sienna, Justine, and Matthias.

A Celebration of Life will be held October 10th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at  Hazelmere Country Club, 18150 8th Avenue, Surrey, BC V3Z 9R9.
