Margaret Wilna Cuddington
1928-2023
Margaret Wilna Cuddington died on July 17, 2023, at the age of 95, surrounded by the love of family. She was born on July 5, 1928, in Moose Jaw to parents John and Ann Burdon. She will be sadly missed by Douglas, loving husband of 74 years; her children John (Joanie), Gary (June), David (Shelley), Gordon (Cathy), 10 grand children and 5 great grandchildren (two more in the “supply chain”).
Hers was a life of accomplishment: Graduate of the 1949 College of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan (one of the rare females in her class), Accountant, public service employee, advocate for social justice, writer of well-researched letters to the editor and elected officials, avid gardener, bridge player, volunteer for many organizations (Lion’s Band, Ski Club, Canadian Club to name a few), organizer of social activities, and much cherished friend, especially of the “deli diners”, and Glengarry group. Her work in gathering genealogy information will be a gift for generations to come.
She will be remembered for her selflessness, wisdom, organization, delightful personality, easy smile, being non-judgmental, forward thinking, and having a classy sense of style. She never offered an unkind word. Marg was ahead of her time in warding off dementia in the last few years of life by staying active and engaged. She was at exercise class only 10 days prior to her death. She was “green” before it became a trend, reusing, composting, and reclaiming water whenever possible. She was a model citizen; the world would be a better place with more “Margs”.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Harvest Haven, especially Cheryl and Frankie, for their care of Marg in the last few years of life, and especially in her last few days. Those wishing to honour her memory are encouraged to write a letter to the editor, find a way to make a difference in your community, wear a scarf or brooch, smile, be kind and open-minded to others.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
