It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we share the news that Frances Mary Cope (Fran) passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, at the age of 75. She was a great mom, nana, wife, sister, and friend to so many in Regina (SK), Ponoka (AB), and Round Rock (TX). Fran was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 14, 1945.
Nana, as she was known by so many, will be missed by her loving children Jeannette Kuculym (Les) and Colleen Peterson (Paul); as well as her 4 grandchildren who were the most important part of her life Brooke and Jaden (Gina) Kuculym, David and Morgan Peterson, and one great-granddaughter Eberlee; her brothers and sister George (Vi), Lil, Joe (Marie), Bill (Tammy), Pat (Royce); and many nieces and nephews. Nana was predeceased by her long-time companion Ken Sartison, parents Mary and Francis (Roy) Leepart, her sister Ethel, brothers Robert (Bob) and Calvin Leepart, and brother-in-law Larry Schultz.
Mom’s true passion in life was her family. As her grandchildren grew up she made sure that she attended their special events whether they were in Kamsack, Saskatchewan or Round Rock, Texas. She was always ready to cheer the kiddos on or play whatever games they wanted to play. At Nana’s, ice cream was always ok at breakfast.
After Nana retired, she could be found in the summer months doing what she loved, tending to her backyard landscapes north of the border and in Texas during the winter months. Nana always enjoyed a glass of wine and great conversation with family and friends. When Nana wasn’t busy working in her yard, she could be seen walking her fur babies Riley and Tex. The grandkids and the puppies definitely enjoyed the frequent stops for ice cream on their mini adventures.
Nana truly valued strong friendships. She seemed to always find a “partner in crime” no matter where she lived. Her three besties Shirley (Regina), Shirley (Round Rock) and Betty Ann (Ponoka) were always up for an adventure. As far as we know, they were never caught!
A special thank you to the staff at the Palliative Care Ward of the Regina Pasqua Hospital for their amazing care for mom during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, any donations in memory of Fran can be made to the Palliative Care Ward of the Pasqua Hospital c/o Hospitals of Regina Foundation, #225-1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 4B3. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date (post pandemic).
