CIOLCZYK, Angela Maria (nee Tetz)
Angela Ciolczyk was born on March 12, 1925 in Schomberg, Germany, and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at her home in Aspen Ridge Lodge, Didsbury, AB at the age of 91. Angela, along with her husband Joe and daughter Ursula, immigrated from Germany in 1953. She was so proud and grateful to call Canada her home, an honor that she always treasured. They lived in Brooks and Dawson Creek before settling in the Didsbury area. In 1973 Angela moved to her daughter’s farm, and enjoyed all that farm life offered. She was able to watch her grandchildren grow, and tend to her huge garden, but it was in the kitchen where she spent countless hours making huge meals for family and neighbors. Angela was an excellent German cook and baker, many can attest to the amounts of delicious food she lovingly prepared. You’d never leave her home without and an armful of food and a full belly. She found true joy in sharing the food she prepared. Angela never drove a car, but could be spotted taking long walks or riding her bike, even from Olds to Didsbury. Angela loved music and dance, she loved watching the kids sing and dance, and was always quick to join in. Angela was an avid reader, she kept current with all the community and world news, she watched weather forecasts and always inquired about the farmers. She loved taking a country drive with her daughter Ursula to see what was happening in the fields. Oma kept us laughing with her funny stories and adventures, she had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and contagious laugh. Her mischievous smile was usually the start of a joke that often would make her laugh so hard, she was unable to deliver the punchline. She had a welcoming nature, a loving spirit and was drawn to kids, animals and anyone who needed her help. She was a strong German lady, never afraid to tell you the truth...(as she saw it). Angela will be remembered for her distinct German accent, her strength, her faith in God and for being funny.
Angela was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and as of Sept 2014, she became a great-great grandmother, making her family span 5 generations. She lived for her family, was so amazed and proud of everyone, she loved them so much and always made sure they knew it. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ursula Krebs; grandson, Jim Wackett and Jim’s daughter, Ashley Wackett (Cory) and their daughter, Charolette; granddaughter, Debby (Dan) Pelletier and their children, Dylan & Deandra; granddaughter, Tina (Shawn) Shultz and their children, Emma & Doran; brother, Rudy (Dorothy) Borzek of Germany. She also leaves to mourn many wonderful friends and relatives.
Angela was predeceased by her mother, Martha Borzek in 1988; her husband, Joe Ciolczyk in 1975; and sons-in-law, Keith Krebs in 2005 and Murray Wackett in 2011.
They say those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.
A Celebration of Angela’s Life was held at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church (Fireside Room) in Didsbury, AB on Monday, November 7, 2016.
