Charlotte Wynona Parankewich

June 16, 2025

Charlotte Wynona Parankewich

Charlotte (Mickey) Wynona Parankewich (née Hazen), age 100, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the Bengough Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Steve, in 2011.

Mickey was born on a farm near Pangman, Saskatchewan, to Albert and Ethel Hazen. The third of four children, she grew up alongside her brothers Al, Warren, and Tom. Her early life on the prairies shaped her strength, resilience, and deep love for nature and animals.

She built a meaningful life as both a devoted nurse and a hardworking farmwife — roles in which she cared deeply for others. Mickey served as the Matron at the Willow Bunch Hospital, where she was known not only for her skill but also for her calm presence in times of need. When doctors weren’t available, she stepped in to deliver babies and tend to emergencies. Her home was always open to the community — whether someone needed stitches, a broken bone set, or a wound bandaged, people knew they could turn to Mickey.

She also found great joy in farm life. She loved her garden and took gentle care of the cows, sheep, geese, and every animal that shared her land.

In her 30s, through her Bible studies, Mickey came to know that God has a name — Jehovah. Her faith became the foundation of her life, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to serving Him and sharing with others the hope she found in the Bible.

Mickey is survived by her son Tom (Laure), and daughter Susan (Terry); her beloved grandchildren Penny (Travis), Becky (Ben), Steve (Lydia), Bob (Alli), and Wynona; her cherished great-grandchildren Cooper, Scottie, Chase, Charlotte, Grayson, and Violet; and Steven and Penny’s mother, Marina. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Ethel Hazen, and her brothers Al, Warren, and Tom.

Over the course of a century, Mickey touched countless lives with her faith, strength, and warmth. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly and in the quiet example she set through her kindness, hard work, and unwavering devotion.

A private graveside service will be held for the family.
