June 24, 1935 (Dublin, Ireland) - September 23, 2020 (Calgary, Alberta)
“Though she be but little she is fierce.”
Jane passed away early Wednesday morning at Rockyview General Hospital, under the constant care and attention of her loving family.
Jane was born in Dublin Ireland, to John and Mary Costigan; the eldest girl in a family of twelve children. Jane spent her childhood and early adulthood in Dublin, until bravely moving to Canada in 1965 to begin a new life with husband Paul.
Leaving behind a long-time managerial position in Dublin, Jane turned her attention to being a full time mother and homemaker with the births of sons Paul (1970) and Patrick (1972). Jane was a frequent volunteer at her children’s schools, especially St. Gerard elementary school. First and foremost, Jane was a doting and loving mother and grandmother, and committed spouse to her husband of 54 years.
Though she built a happy home in Calgary Jane never gave up her home across the water, and remained close with all her family in Ireland through the years.
Jane was a beautiful, gentle, kind, patient, and endlessly positive soul. She selflessly dedicated her adult life to raising a family and building a happy home. She was the center of the universe for the three very lucky men in her life. Jane was a tiny but fiercely strong and protective mother lion. Her loss leaves a gaping void in their world, but they are thankful that she is now at peace.
Jane is lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul A.; children, Paul T. (Terri) and Patrick (Maggie); and grandchildren Noah, Thomas, and Clare.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated for Jane at St. Bonaventure Parish, 1600 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11:00am.
