It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Melvin Butler. Mel passed away peacefully at his home in Cochrane on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, after spending the week silaging with his family at the farm near Sylvan Lake. Mel is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Val (Deone) Townsend; grandchildren, Dakota, Wacey, Jace and Jessa; his brothers, Walter (Elaine), Don (Elena), Gordon (Lee Ann); uncle, Pierce (Arlene); along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Mel Butler Jr.; and his wife, Diane Butler. Mel will always be fondly remembered for his big smile, kind heart and trademark bowler hat.
