Brian Lyndon Lockhart

Brian passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, in Surrey, BC, after a very brief battle with cancer.  He is predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Paula (2020). 

Born in 1938 in Woodside, NS, Brian spent his youth and early adult days in Dartmouth.  He attended Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Technical School, earning his mechanical engineering degree in 1961. 

Brian began his career with Union Carbide in Montreal, which later took him to New Brunswick.  In 1967, he joined Imperial Oil and the family moved to Sarnia, Ontario where they made wonderful memories and forged lifelong friendships.  Brian held management positions in Sarnia and later at Imperial Oil’s head office in Toronto.  Taking early retirement in 1992, the family moved to British Columbia where he worked 15 years in environmental safety as BC’s Regional Director for the Canadian Chemical Producers Association.

Known for his quick wit and a wonderful eye for mischief, Brian lived to bring joy, levity and laughter to those around him.  One of Brian’s favourite pastimes was motorcycling, clocking thousands of kilometres on trips throughout Canada and the U.S.  While his work took him to places throughout the world, his favourite destination was the family timeshare in Puerto Vallarta.  Sipping a margarita to the sounds of mariachi were his bliss.  Through his self-named “Lockhart Travel” service, Brian delighted in creating detailed travel itineraries for shared trips with friends and family.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family and adored their many pets.  Marlee, in particular, is missing their afternoon naps together.

Brian is lovingly remembered by his children Terri and Jeff.

A gathering to celebrate Brian’s life will be held in the fall.  If desired, donations may be made to your local SPCA/Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society
