Lloyd John Bowen, passed quietly in his sleep in Airdire, Alberta after a short but intense fight against Lewy Body Dementia. Born January 24, 1933; passed January 16, 2014. His wonderfully mischievous ways will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Gay; daughters, Leanne Huber & Shelly (Joel Siegel); son, Barry (Darrell Warren); granddaughter, Jody; sister, Phyllis (Harold); sister-in-law, Elsie; extended family Anne Marie, Jim & James Cox; much loved companion, Gabby Cat as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his brother, Wilfred; sister, Martha and son, Dale.
After a long and adventurous career in the oil industry, spanning cross country from Newfoundland to Alberta and as far as the Middle East, Lloyd retired in Claresholm where he enjoyed his garden, workshop & many "adopted" pets. The inventor of the "Zinger", the St. Phillips Wolf and "Chiney Galimp", this trickster was both a true gentleman and a gentle soul. A creative woodworker, dog lover and incredibly supportive father, husband & "Gramps", he left his family with many a story to tell.
Heartfelt thanks to all at Bethany Airdrie Care, especially the Supported Living team who gave Dad such wonderful care in the last year; long time family friends Myrna & Jim Richards for their continued love & support, and Tina & Bill Dyer for their amazing friendship. A come and go tea will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 2:00 – 5:00 at the Woodside Over 50 Club, 411 Woodside Drive, Airdrie, AB.
