Bill Kulaway (William) 

November 21, 1939 – May 31, 2026. 

It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Bill Michael Kulaway, who passed away on May 31, 2026, in Yorkton, Sask. at the age of 86.

Bill was born on November 21st, 1939, in Whitesand District on the family farm to Mike and Polly Kulaway (Hupka). At 15 he started working for farmers in the Springside area and sent money home. He also worked in Edmonton at IGA Wholesale. At age 16 he got his license and moved to Imperial Sask, to work for a farmer. At age 18 he got his commercial license and hauled gravel until the summer of 1958, after which continued at a number of jobs in construction running a D4 Cat until he moved back to Yorkton and worked for Yorkton Oil Coal and Wood.

In 1961 he met Elsie Varga while hauling gravel and married her in 1965. After which they moved to Esterhazy with their daughter Karen and hauled potash. During this time their first son Kevin was born. In 1969 the 4 of them moved back to the Yorkton area where he drove semi for the remainder of his career, mostly known for his time at Atomic Transport. Along the way he had another son Kurtis in 1975 and eventually along came his youngest son Kenneth in 1981.

Bill bought Elsie’s parent acreage where they raised their children from 1975 until 1986 at which time they moved to McBurney Dr. Yorkton, Sask. where he resided until May 2020 when he moved into the Skinner Unit of the Yorkton and District Nursing home where he passed away. He loved animals and spent much of his retirement hanging out with his dogs.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elsie, daughter Karen Dunlop and grandsons Kaleb Dunlop and Dustin Dunlop. His son Kevin Kulaway and wife Tanya (Schultz) and their children, his grandchildren Bethany Kulaway and husband Chris Hoffer, his grandson Zachary Kulaway and his wife Erica (Hudema) and their son, his great grandson. Brooks Kulaway and baby Hudson, born June 3, just a few days after Bill's passing.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Skinner Unit of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home.
