Erwin was born on June 9, 1935 in Quinton, Saskatchewan to John and Alma Beug in the middle of the Great Depression. His birth was followed 2 years later by Verna, then Iris, Malcolm, Alvin, Terrance, Norman, Karen and Delilah. It was a busy and hectic household!
Like his father, Erwin became a jack-of-all-trades. He left the farm and moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, working with the City of Regina, Wapples and various odd jobs. It was in Regina that he met Elaine Ulmer. They married on December 19, 1959. Their daughter Sandra was born in 1960, followed by Erwin (JR) in 1962 and Patty in 1966.
They returned to the farm in 1964. Erwin and Elaine were active in the Elks/Royal Purple, local hockey, Farmer's Union and numerous other community activities.
In 2000, they moved back to Regina where they helped raise grandchildren, worked at Alfords and helped refurbish the Hotel Saskatchewan and later the Grant Hall in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Erwin will be remembered for his ingenuity, love of animals and children and his many stories.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Elaine (Ulmer), his children: Sandra (Karl Fix) - Alexandra, Ava, Emma and Elena; Erwin Jr. (Iona Chamberlin); Patty (Les Jang) - Stephen and Greta.
The family wishes to thank the Dialysis Unit and ICU at the Regina General Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan and the staff at the Bentley for their care and support.
