Wilhelmina (Willy) Maria Betts (nee Blom) went home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 26, 2023, surrounded by family. Willy was born to “May” and “Jack” in ’s-Gravenmoer, Noord Brabant, in the Netherlands where she and her family lived before immigrating to Canada in 1954. Willy grew up in Vancouver where she worked in her father’s bakery and eventually met her husband, Nelson. Willy and Nelson had three children Steven (Kymm), Kim (James), and Tom (Jenn) before opening their home to children who needed a safe home. Dan and Barry became family. Willy loved her children and was so excited when her grandchildren, and later great grandchildren came along. Willy adored her 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Willy had many hobbies including painting, knitting, baking, scrapbooking, and card making. Willy had a heart for people. She loved to make others feel special and never missed a chance to celebrate others whether it be with baking or a homemade card. Willy spent many years volunteering at the Missions Thrift store. She loved her Thursday shifts and rarely missed a week. Willy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Langley Memorial Hospital ICU for treating her like family and taking such good care of her during her stay.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 3, 2023, at 11am at
