Alice Jean Cowie

April 26, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Alice Jean Cowie on April 26, 2026. Jean was born on July 12, 1947, in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, and spent part of her childhood in Silton, Saskatchewan.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Peter MacGregor, Joan MacGregor, and John Amyotte; her loving husband, Lorne Cowie; her daughter, Angela Hipfner; and her siblings, Raymond, Dianne, Kelly, and Kenny.

Jean is survived by her children Shaundell (Kelly),Krystal (Dean), Grandchildren; Jordana (Derrick), Alanda (Nick), Karen, Kaylee, Tavah, Jay and Isla. Great Grandchildren Kayne, Slade, Ashton, Sylas, Trysen and DJ. Sisters; Fran (Dennis), Donna, Val (Werner). And many friends, nieces and nephews.

She found joy in life’s simplest and most beautiful moments. She loved picnics in the park, long country drives where stories and memories were made. Jean cherished “Sister Weekends” which consisted of good meals, travels, casino visits, reminiscing, and lots of laughter.

Her home was more than a place—it was a feeling. A safe haven where family and friends gathered, where the tea was always on, and where you could count on being greeted with warmth and care. She had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged, and that gift will never be forgotten.

Jean had a special fondness for collecting miniature glass shoes—so many that her children are still dusting. When asked how many she had, her children simply say, “way too many.”

Jean leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.

A gathering in Alice's memory will take place at a later date with details to follow. Information will also be available on this page.

Very sad. I always told Jean she made the best burnt toast around, what followed was smiles and laughter. Ray, Woody(Ken) and myself went to her farm near Earl Grey and Jean made us breakfast, while she managed to burn the toast, us guys teased her many times over the years. Jean had a big heart, loved family, she always made me feel like family. Jean you will be missed. 🤗
