Violeta Alexander

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet mother, Violeta Alexander.  Violeta passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.  Violeta will be greatly missed by her son, Jim (Lek), grandchildren, Jay Jay & Jenny; daughter, Mary Ann (Donald) and many other relatives and friends.  She was predeceased by her ex-husband Riddell; sister Alicia and brother Alejandro.  Violeta was born in Lima, Peru.  She met Riddell at the University of Southern Mississippi, married in 1949 and moved to Ottawa, Ontario where Violeta worked for the Embassy of Peru.  Violeta’s greatest passion and delight in life was her children.  She will be fondly remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Shane Workun, nurse Michael and all the staff on Unit 62 at the Foothills Hospital.  In keeping with Violeta’s wishes, no formal services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Calgary Food Bank, 5000 – 11 Street SE, Calgary, AB, T2H 2Y5.  To celebrate Violeta’s life, a tree will be planted.
