Janis Louise Hill

July 4th, 2023

Janis Louise Hill of Abbotsford, British Columbia passed away in her 75th year on July 4, 2023, after a sudden onset of cancer.

The daughter of the late Beatrice & Alexander (Sandy) Davidson, Jan was born in Comox, British Columbia. She was the youngest of four children, and grew up in White Rock, BC. She described her family as pioneers.

Jan was a graduate of Semiahmoo Secondary School in 1966 and stayed in White Rock in South Surrey.  She was active in local sports, the hospital auxiliary and charitable things in town.

In 1971, she married the most kind and wonderful man, Jim Hill. They moved around a bit for Jim’s work, temporarily living on Vancouver Island, but returned to White Rock to the Family Farm to raise their family. With the development of Marine Drive in White Rock, they moved to the Log House in Langley, where Jan continued to enjoy farm life.

Jan was employed as a bank teller and realtor in her early years but much joy was brought to her life as a proud mother (grandmother), homemaker, and the endless upkeep of the Family Farms both in White Rock and Langley. She enjoyed working with the Clydesdale horses, and Polled Herford cows with Jim. She also loved her dogs, Scruffy, Doc, Brandy, Tyson, Bella and Dakota.

Prior to her diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease Jan enjoyed travelling with family and friends. She enjoyed her visits to Palm Springs, Arizona & Mexico, and cruising the Caribbean.

In the last few years of her life, Jan spent her spare time learning how to weave with her loom, baking for the grandchildren, maintaining the inground pool, and as she liked to call it “Retail Therapy” aka The Shopping Channel.

Gone before her, were her parents, older brother Bill (1984), and her husband Jim (2008). She is survived by her sisters, Shirley & Sharon, her 3 children, daughters Janelle (Randy) and Kandi (Jeff) and 3 grandchildren children (Dale, Maisie, Raine), and son Darren (Tanya) and 3 grandchildren (Benjamin, Georgia, Alexa).
