February 19, 1934 – July 14, 2020

Ken passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the age of 86 surrounded by his loving family.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 62 years, Cora; children. Lora (Greg), David (Dawn), Cathy (Mark), and Kelly (Liz). He was an amazing grandfather to Geoff (Jenn), Kenny, and Luke; and his great-grandchildren, Grady, Kinsley, and Emily. He is also survived by his brother, Ted (Gayle); and sisters-in-law, Vi, Terry, and Anne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lora Oliver; his inlaws, Bill and Martha Peterman; his brother, Joe; and his daughter-in-law, Dawn.

Ken was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He spent his childhood in numerous locations in B.C. He met Cora in Red Deer, Alberta in 1956 and they were married in Edmonton in 1958.

Ken started a career with Ford Motor Co. but his passion was carpentry. In the mid 60’s he became a journeyman carpenter and spent his contruction years with several companies and eventually started his own company “Oliver Construction”.

Ken and Cora retired young and spent many years travelling everywhere. They spent years wintering in Yuma, Arizona, enjoying wonderful weather, great friends and family and lots of good times.

As years passed Ken and Cora spent a great deal of time in Airdrie, Alberta. They were members of the 50 Plus Club and enjoyed many great friends with the club. Ken loved playing cards of all kinds and enjoying a rousing game of “crib” on Friday nights!

Ken was a warm, kind and generous man who never said “no!” If you asked, Ken always gave from the heart.

Ken struggled with cancer and eventually lost his battle at the Agape Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. We greatly appreciate all the fabulous staff at Agape who took amazing care of Ken!

Due to restrictions of COVID-19 all services will be postponed until a future date can be arranged. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agape Hospice, 1302 – 8 Ave. NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1B8.

Ken will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him!

Rest in Peace.

Ken, you were a gentleman, valued friend, and icon in our Yuma circle. Your loss has left a huge hole in our hearts. You, Cora and Minnie took Andy and I under your wing when we first met over 20 years ago at Gila Mountain RV Park.......and you showed us “the ropes” of Yuma living and snowbird life. You lived life to the fullest both in Yuma and here at home and never missed a shuffle board game, crib game, garage sale or happy hour. You and Cora were model host and hostess and we always felt welcome and at home, in your home. Our group’s New Years Eve dinner and horse racing evenings will never be the same without you, but you will not be forgotten. You were the best of the best, Ken, and we are ever so thankful to have had you as our friend. Andy & Nancy Rivey
