VANDER VORST, Dirk

It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Dirk Vander Vorst, on Thursday, May 4, 2017. After a brief illness, he died peacefully in his own home at the age of 80.

He is lovingly missed and remembered by his children and grandchildren, Petra, Jan, Marleen, Jan Dirk & Larissa Dorrestijn; Dirk, Carolyn, Hannah, Jesse, Lydia, Luke Vander Vorst; Beatrix, Bill, Reanna (Rickey), Erica Schaly; Ingrid, Niels, Michal, Eva, Siri Reinholdt; and Corinne, Jon Paul, Josiah, Connor Vooys; and by his siblings, Truus Boot, Anneke Veerbeek, Ineke Vander Vorst, Riet Wiegersma, Leo Vander Vorst and Isabella Warmerdam.

Dirk was predeceased by his wife, Corry.

A Memorial Service will be held at River Park Church, 3818 14A St SW, Calgary, AB on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 2:30 pm.

Messages of Condolence

Dear family, My condolences to you all for the loss of Ome Dirk. He was unique, full of life and interests and a very loving uncle. I will never forget the first time I came to Canada and went hiking up to Heart Mountain (which is of course peanuts for Ome Dirk :) and going camping to Long Beach, Vancouver Island! I am thankful I was able to spend time with him over the past year and make some nice memories. And I am grateful I was able to be close during the last weeks. I will miss him very much. Greet

John is planning on coming to be with you on Wednesday. Unfortunately, I am unable to due to work and also due to my need to be with my parents and the need to take time away from my work for that. Sorry for this lost.. Best wishes to Dirk's family and friends! It is always hard to lose your dad, brother or friend. Hope the sweet memorys will remain. I remember him as a active cool moving, special, artistic person. Making fires on campsides and in garden, talking about life and family and trips he made. A real man of nature.
