Nancy Fraser

December 13, 1953- March 31, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Dolores Fraser (Edgar). Nancy passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 due to the sudden and rapid progression of pulmonary fibrosis. She was lovingly surrounded by her children. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan; parents, William and Maxine Edgar; and brother, Dan Edgar. She is survived by her children, James Fraser (Liz), Tim Fraser, Christopher Fraser, Amy Robson (Joe), Colin Fraser, Sheldon Fraser and Alana Harbidge (Jarrett). Nancy is survived by her brother, Richard Edgar (Karen); sister, Marcia Wood (Patrick); and sister-in-law, Cindy Edgar. Nancy was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 13, 1953, and moved to Palm Springs with her family at the age of 14. She graduated from The College of the Desert where she completed the Registered Nursing Program, and worked in Palm Springs as an RN. When she met Allan, she moved to Canada and began her adventure as a farm wife, a mother, and also continued nursing.

Nancy had a strong faith and was active in the church community throughout her life. In recent years she was a member of the Balzac United Church choir, a passion which she shared with Allan. Nancy had a gift of joyfulness and expressed that through music. She will be greatly missed but we know she now holds a place in the heavenly choir.

Nancy had a loving, servant heart and made friendships wherever she went. Cooking for others was her love language and she was a blessing to all that found themselves at her table.

Sincere appreciation to the staff at South Health Campus Unit 66 and ICU for their incredible care and compassion. Also, we extend our endless gratitude to Dr. Maitland, Dr. Champagne and Dr. Hutchison for helping Nancy survive three open heart surgeries, giving her the chance to create more memories with her loved ones. An additional thank you to Nancy’s pulmonary specialist Dr. Johansson who made every effort to help and support her.

A private Family Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; 47 Squire Baker’s Lane, Markham, Ontario, L3P 3G8.

My deepest sympathy to the Fraser/Edgar families. I met Nancy in Calgary after spending some time in Palm Springs with her dear sister Marcia and her mother Maxine who travelled with my mother. Nancy faithfully kept in touch with me. Her inspiring words and messages were always uplifting and of comfort to me. We shared a love of singing and joy in being of service to other people. Although I will miss her calls, I hope to feel her presence each time I sing a song of reverence.

This beautiful lady came in to my life a few years ago along with Allan. She was a firecracker and I loved her spirit and energy along with her beautiful smile. We didn’t get to do our road trip to Phoenix and Palm Springs but I will cherish all the memories we had with a smile and love in my heart. Sending love and prayers to Allan and Nancy’s wonderful kids and grandkids.

My deepest condolences. Nancy will be missed by all, I know Mary and I will miss her and she will always be in thoughts and in our heart. Nancy and Allen were both very special people, their compassion for others and their friendship will always be a part of me. Mike Rydl

Sadly we never met Nancy, but have heard a lot about her through Amy - her devotion to her family and her strong Christian faith. May she rest in peace.

We first met Allan and Nancy through our young Daughter Sarah, who was looking for the best place to board a horse, that she hadn’t yet purchased. The patience and respect shown to this young girl was extraordinary. Sarah did indeed get her horse, and thus began our most wonderful journey and friendship with the Fraser’s. We are saddened for your loss. Nancy was a treasure to all, she will be missed and always cherished. Our love and heartfelt condolences to you all, Gerry Anderson, Sarah CHAISSON and Family

My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. Nancy will always hold a special spot in my heart. She was a great cook and made the best buns. She was always busy but found the time to chat to everyone and made you feel like family. I loved getting to know her over the years. Her light will continue to shine for everyone who knew her. Your spirit made my life a little better. God bless! Lorna and Val Palmer

Always thinking of you, and glad i got to meet you and Allan. Lots of good times. Miss you both, but i know you're in a better place. It was the best of times.

To our dear cousins and families: Amy and Alana, Colin and Sheldon, James and Tim and Chris, We were so shocked to hear that Nancy got ill so quickly and yet relieved she didn’t suffer for long. Your Mom was a strong, warm, loving and genuine lady. She always lightened up the room with her positive outlook and welcoming ways. I am so sad you have lost her so early in her life and in yours. I am grateful some of you were able to be there despite this year’s huge challenges. She was lucky to have all of you. I hope you all know how much we care and are feeling for you. Your Mom will be so dearly missed. We are sending huge love and hugs your way, always. xoxoxo Coll & Greg, Eden & Abby Garnsey

We are very sad to learn of Nancy's passing. We met Allan and Nancy just a few short years ago when they cared for our mare. Such genuine and open-hearted people. It is a tragedy for the family that both are now gone far too soon. Our deepest condolences.

Our hearts go out to all of you. May your memories warm you in your grief. She was a great lady, lovely neighbour and will be missed. So sorry for your loss. Kind regards, Barb & John Hinger
