Lloyd McIntosh White

March 3rd, 2020

A year ago, White, Lloyd McIntosh died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on March 3, 2020 in Coquitlam, B.C. from diabetes complications. Due to challenges of COVID the family decided to delay posting the obituary as they always held a hope that there would be a memorial planned.

Lloyd was born in 1929 in Perth, Ontario to Arthur and Agnus White. He grew up in Howard Creek, near Meath Park Saskatchewan. He moved to Vancouver in his early 20’s where he worked in forestry and worked to earn his journeyman carpenter’s certification.  Lloyd retired as a Superintendent for Turnbul and Gail Construction and was proud of leading the construction of Granville Island Market and the Vancouver Art gallery to name a few

Lloyd met his wife Anne White (deceased) while serving as a member of the Grouse Mountain Ski Patrol. He married Anne Louise White nee Rickards, on June 7, 1958 and spent 59 years of happy marriage together. Once Lloyd retired, he focused on skiing with his family at Mt. Baker, Cypress, Seymour Mountain and Silver Star. Skiing was Lloyd’s life passion during the winter and during the summer he enjoyed travelling in their RV with friends and the Dogwood Roamers. Lloyd became an avid honey beekeeper, loving both the bees and eating the honey. Dogs became the joy of his life as he aged and he would do anything to help animals.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Anne (2017).  Left to cherish Lloyd’s memory are their three children: Bryan White (Tracey) of Coquitlam, Karen White(Sandra) of Coquitlam, and David White (Leila)of Coquitlam. He had six grandchildren: Bryan’s children Myles, Tanner, and Jaydon; and David’s children Alana, Nichelle, and Derian.

A special acknowledgement to Dr. Jodene Klippenstein and Ivana Neiman who always provided the best medical care for dad. When dad suddenly fell ill, his Dr. was by his side providing comfort and care. Dad always said he had the BEST care team in Dr. Klippenstein and Ivana and he always said he told everyone that he was blessed to have them.

The memorial service has been postponed several times due to Covid and there is no date in the future yet for a planned service. Instead we are placing a headstone with Mom and Dad’s name in the Vancouver Mountainview (Fraser St) Cemetery in April 2021.

In lieu of flowers, a special fund has been created where dad wanted them to go. Donations can be made to Mountainview Veterinary Hospital (call 604-427-2744 or email: info@mvvet.ca) in Langley, BC.  Dr. Renee Fergusen and her team, will accept donations to the Angel Fund for Lloyd White. The money collected will go to a client or clients who need extra funds for a canine care. Dad wanted this fund created as Dr. Fergusen and her team work tirelessly for all animals and she always supported dad in his passion to adoption older dogs who needed extra care.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

I have fond memories of Uncle Lloyd and Auntie Anne from my youth. I was lucky enough to meet them both again decades later and had a visit with Lloyd and my mother (his sister) Mary shortly before he passed. We had a great conversation about early family history around Meath Park SK. My condolences to all his family. Jack Cronkhite

My love to you, Karen and Sandra........and condolences to the White family. Cherish the memories. xoxo

Uncle Lloyd. Full of life. Big smile readily available. Able to vault onto the rear end of a horse, Gallup it across a field then jump off. Just part of putting up a barb wire fence at Mic and Lavinas farm. His sister Mary always enjoyed visiting with Lloyd. The few memories I have of Uncle Lloyd are all good. The kind of person you want to be like.
