Alma Ruth Millhouse Sales

June 14th, 2018

It is with profound sadness that we say good bye to our dear Mother, Grandmother/great grandmother, Alma Ruth Millhouse Sales passed away June 14, 2018 after a short illness at Abbotsford Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. Alma is predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) parents, siblings, daughter Lynn, son Rob and grandson Bryan.

Born in 1927 in Cut Knife Saskatchewan to Henry and Helen Millhouse, the fifth child, third daughter of eight children. At 16, Alma along with some family members moved with to Victoria B.C where she graduated from Victoria High School in 1946.  At a church young people’s meeting, Alma met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Sales. They were married August 5, 1948 moving to Port Alberni, Vancouver, Surrey and finally Abbotsford. Daughter Lynn was born in 1949; Beverly, 1952; Catherine 1957 and Robert Jr 1962. Settling in Surrey, their home was always filled with family and friends’ gatherings and parties. Sunday roast beef dinners; bonfires in the back yard, Tupperware parties, visiting missionaries, bible study groups and children’s parties, which provided much joy, laughter, and happy memories.  Alma and Bob were actively involved in Tenth Avenue Alliance; Surrey Alliance, Mountainview Alliance and finally Heritage Alliance where they had made commitments to their Christian faith at a young age. Alma enjoyed being a member of the CKNW’s Orphan’s Fund Bowling Team, Welcome Wagon, 4H Club, PTA, along with being a busy wife and mother. When grandchildren were added to the family, (Terri, David, Shauna, Dawn, Bryan, Josh, Brandon) she took on the role with much enjoyment, pride, and love. Great grandchildren followed in time which provided Bob and Alma with continued pride.

Bob and Alma retired to Abbotsford in 1985 and spent many happy winters in Palm Spring, Arizona, cruising, traveling through the United States and Canada. As a gift from her children on her 80th birthday, Alma traveled to Melbourne Australia to meet Bob’s half-sister Pat and her family.  When Bob died in 2003 Alma continued to live actively and independently until April 2018 when she moved into Tabour Court Assisted Living Place. In the early mornings of June 14, 2018 Alma, 'graduated' into heaven where she is now in the presences of her Heavenly Father and reunited with many family and friends. She is deeply loved and will be forever missed. We will remember Alma’s life and celebrate what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 5 at 4:00 p.m. at Heritage Alliance Church in Abbotsford. Donations can be made to Heritage Alliance Church, Abbotsford Hospital Foundation, Diabetes Society, or a charity of your choice.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
