He was a great guy and a great smile I seen him a couple of times for wrestling

Dear Rosanna, The last few years I have tried to reach Franc to re-connect and when I mentioned his name today at a soccer store the owner told me the sad and ever so surprising news of his passing. The set-up was that I'd be recruited onto a struggling team then I'd bring Franc and Mike Deeley out, sometimes another player or two, then we'd be league champs . . I always asked Franc first! There are so many fond memories and the last time I saw Franc there were a few million others also watching him purposefully walking down to toss his hat onto the ice after the hat-trick in the World Juniors. Franc was a good man, wish you and the boys the best. Yours truly, JB

Roseanne and boys I just found out checking hockey It must be devastating for you all. Roseanne take comfort..in knowing he in a much better place Words are few at this time I will certainly keep him in my prayers Miss you all Madie

My deepest condolences to Rosanna, Alex, and Nic. Franc and I were classmates in grade 7 at General Wolfe elementary school in 1975. He was the team captain of the floor hockey team I was in. Remembered how he taught our team to improve and said that was the only way we will win against the other teams. Several games later and collecting our trophies, he said see what happens when you work hard. We both attended Sir Charles Tupper high school but never had classes together. Met him again in 1984 at the A & W in Oakridge Centre. Said hi and asked what I was doing 3 years after graduating from Tupper. He said he does not want to go school but liked the idea of opening a small restaurant. Franc you are a good man and made a lasting impression on me. May you rest in peace.

Rosanna, Alex, Nic: I wish you peace as you cope with your tragic loss, as well as joy while you embrace all the fond memories of Franc. I doubt you know me, but I knew your husband / father. Franc and I were friends at Sir Charles Tupper high school. I remember Franc in those high school days as a kind young man with wholesome values who excelled in sports, e.g. distance running, wrestling etc. I remember those gym class "graveyard runs" when most of us would struggle to finish while admiring how Franc would typically finish first. Franc and I had a mutual respect even though we weren't close buddies in high school. I hadn't seen Franc all these years since high school graduation. I'd left Vancouver after UBC undergrad studies and when I finally returned to Vancouver a few years ago I tried to reconnect with Franc to say hello. Like Franc, I'm also a husband and father of sons, so I looked forward to catching up and relating to each other. I had learned from another high school friend that Franc owned the La Notte restaurant. I stopped by last year at the restaurant, and the nice ladies in the kitchen informed me that Franc no longer owned the restaurant but I didn't have any contact info. Fast forward to this evening as I'm shocked and saddened to learn via an internet search of Franc's passing and your loss. My sincere sympathies to you. I trust you'll cherish forever the wonderful legacy of Franc. Best regards, Norm Lo.

We first met at Zinka's fence - Franc would be helping in her yard. We had many talks when we would meet in our alley, and we had fun together at the dinners and parties at Bob's. Franc always had a big smile and a witty comment! He was full of life and energy. We will miss Franc immensely. It won't be the same without his smile and energy. Our condolences to Franc's family, and to all who knew him as we did.

Rosanna, Alex, and Nic: Grace and I are deeply saddened at hearing of Francs' untimely passing. He was such a nice, proud man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Bill and Grace Adams

I just can’t believe Franc is gone. My heart breaks for you Rosanna. This is just so unfair. If you ever need me just message me anytime. You are in my prayers nightly since I found out. I pray that God stays by your side to help you get through this terrible loss. Alex and Nic I can’t tell you enough on how sad we are for you boys. Your father is an incredible role model. I remember your Dad coaching Zach when he played soccer 19 years ago. You guys were all so young then. Every time we have seen him he has brought smiles and laughter to us all. He will be greatly missed. Again we are so very sorry for your loss.

Although I only met Franc at Pina's on special occasions such as birthdays and Christmas, he was always so nice and friendly. No one can truly feel the heartache you are going through unless they have experienced it. Your poem, If Tears Could Build a Stairway brought tears to my eyes, for all your pain, and loss... one can only imagine. Stay strong for your children. Your family and friends will get you through this. With deep regret, Denise and Dino
