Kirthi Kumara Weeratunge

August 11th, 2017

With a broken heart, I am writing this obituary….

My dear husband, Kirthi Kumara Weeratunge, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly of a heart attack on Aug 11, 2017, while we were holidaying as a family near 100 Mile House.  He was only 45 years old.

He will be missed by so many people.  He leaves behind me, his wife, Rosa (nee Olthuis) and our children, Maciah, Alayna and Serena. He was a wonderful husband and father.

He also leaves behind his parents, Marinus and Marie Van Prattenburg, and Cyril Weeratunge; sister, Rasika Weeratunge (in SriLanka); sister Nirosha and her husband Teun Schouten (Lukas and Daniel); parents-in-law, Evert and Margriet Olthuis; sister-in-law Ellen and her husband Troy Campbell (Jayde and Ryken); and sister-in-law Dorothy and husband Scott Huston (Kyren and Hunter).  He will also be missed by so many others; colleagues, friends, and church community.

Kirthi was born in SriLanka and immigrated to Canada at the age of 14.  Kirthi learned about Jesus and asked Him to be his Lord and Saviour when he was 19 years old.  He lived a life that reflected Christ. He was kind, generous, loving, welcoming and servant-hearted. One of his biggest gifts was helping those around him.

We miss him so terribly much, but we have the assurance in knowing that he is with Jesus and that we will see him again.

Kirthi's memorial service will be held this Saturday, Aug 19th at 1pm, at HillCity church, 3970 Gladwin Rd. Abbotsford.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

Dear Rosa , Maciah, Alayna and Serena, My sincere condolences to you and your children. I only have seen you and Kirthy Aiya in a black and white picture that Aunt Marie (Nurse Aunt) had sent to our family in Kaduwela, Sri Lanka. We were school children those days. I'm writing this note on behalf of my parents, late W.K.D Sunil Camillus (Aunt Marie's only younger brother) and Ranjani Iddamalgoda (Aunt Marie's one of the sisters in law) and my brothers Kenneth and Ruwan, I believe also never had a chance to meet Kirthi Aiya (cousin) or any of you. I had two cousins from my father's family that I have never met until this day. Also another sister cousin that had had eye injuries in the past. So...thanks to internet, I could say hello to at least Kirthi Aiya's immediate family, you Rosa (akka) and the children. This message is unusual because I'm leaving it for a cousin that I have never met or my family had never met. I came to know about Kirthy Aiya's and Aunt Marie's passing, very late, through another cousin, (Dilanthi akka) through facebook. I couldn't believe what I heard. I deeply regretted the fact that if I could have paid a visit to Canada few years before, I could have met them in Canada. I hope you and your family find solace and courage to continue with the prayers and guidance of your loved ones around you. May Kirthy Aiya rest in peace surrounded by heavenly angels! May he attain Nibbana!

Please accept my sincere condolences over your loss. Kirthi was one of the best people I have ever worked with and a joy to run into walking the halls. Always so serious every once in a while I would throw him a curve on some random topic. On a good day he would be taken aback and try and seriously figure out the problem. Because Kirthi was such a nice guy I could never hold a straight face for longer then a couple of minutes and burst out laughing. That is how I remember him, always with a smile and a friendly word. Rosa, best wishes for your and your family.

It has been hard to know what to write about Kirthi in this space. He was someone that I admired greatly, even though I feel I was still getting to know him. One of the greatest reasons I came to admire him so quickly was because you, Rosa, were so confident and loved. You had the capacity to give fully and freely to others. That is something that comes from a woman who is blessed, encouraged and loved by the one closest to her. Of all my memories of Kirthi, there is one that makes me smile the most. Last December, when we were planning the kids practice for the Christmas program, I asked Kirthi if he could get a couple guys together to make some pancakes for all the kids when the practice was done. Well... he took on that task with a twinkle in his eye, and when the day of rehearsal came, the kids were amazed to come out to a fully catered breakfast! It was way beyond pancakes! They served a complete breakfast and refused to turn in a receipt for reimbursement. What a generous and fun way to serve the kids. That's the kind of man Kirthi was. I love your whole family so much. You have all become even more dear to me in the last few weeks. I am always praying for you and so thankful I had the chance to know Kirthi.

Kirthi was a man of integrity, patience and grace. We can truly say that we loved him and he will be terribly missed. Always there with a genuine caring smile, warm words and a hug. Though we had only met Kirthi just over two years ago it felt like we have known him for years - he was just that warm and caring. We know we will see him again but he leaves a huge void in his family, church family and his workplace. We were very blessed to have known him.

Rosa, the love and sense of adventure you and Kirthi had with your family was so inspiring! I looked back on some of our msgs and we were talking about your new trailer purchase and the places you had booked to visit. You both were so willing to serve in Children's ministry and outreach events! I could always count on you! I loved how you and Kirthi would hold your kids and enjoy worship together as a family! Micah, the proud moments you had with your dad and how he taught you to create with your hands and serve with a servants heart are special memories ❤️ Alayna, Miracle surprise baby! Your mom and dad were blow away with Gods goodness and answered prayer! I loved watching your mom and dad stand and share their testimony of Gods faithfulness and unexpected gift of you in their lives! For your dad it was his first daughter and he Beamed with pride & excitement for your arrival .❤️ Serena, I remember the day you were born! Unfortunately I was all the way in Peru on a mission trip but remember how your Mom & Dad were so in love with another Miracle God had blessed them with ❤️ I remember how your daddy would hold you and Alayna during worship and you would wrap your arms around his neck as you rested your head on his shoulder. Kirthi, you had such a way of encouraging me with just a single smile. Your beautiful dimples and gentle brown eyes resonated a caring and Christ like love & support as I stumbled along trying to follow Gods leading in my gifts. You often had to stay around to lock up after church and never complained but offered to help me carry things down the stairs to my car or helped tidy the rooms. You were always genuinely interested in how Grant & I were doing and that you missed us at ACtK. I will always Remember you and am happy your spending your days in heaven relaxing and reaping your great rewards of being a faithful servant. ❤️ Brittain Family

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, Kirthi Aiya’s (big brother) untimely death is a big big blow to all of us. It has thrown us into untold agony, tears and pain. Our family got to know him closely for a very short period. Yet, he showed his love, care and brotherly love during that very short time. That’s why it is so unreal. Whenever we would be greeted, he always had the biggest smile and a warm welcome. When he came to our house to help us with construction we felt right away his brotherly love. We were so unfortunate, to be loved by him and known him much closer. God may have a special purpose for Kirthi aiya, which he called him to a different dimension that we cannot understand. May the Good Lord give you all strength, peace and blessings in abundance. Our sincere condolences and love to all…………… Minoj, Krishmali and family.

Rosa, our hearts go out to you and your kids. I too remember Kirthi as 'one of those people you just love to be around'. He was always kind, generous, with a smile on his face. I am reminded of one of the texts you chose for your wedding, Ps. 40:5 which reads, 'Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts towards us; there is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count.' Those words were true on your wedding day and they are still true today as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death. May you know the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the richness of God's grace in the coming months and years as you fix your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our faith! Blessings, Russ & Jan Ooms

One of our fondest memories of Kirthi was at the farm when we were celebrating Dan's graduation from his bookkeeping course. I had bought some crushed chilies to make a pot of chili not realizing that they are much hotter than chili powder I put the same amount in . Nobody could eat the Chili except for Dan Steele Curtis Oaks and Kirthi . So many more memories at ACTK family camps. Kirthi was such a great model of Christs love. He will be so dearly missed.

Our hearts break for you yet we rejoice that Kirthi is with our Lord. Kirthi and I were baptized on the same day so many years ago. We are all blessed to have known him and the passion for Jesus that reflected in his life. Love Shirley and Kris Hill

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, We were so shocked when we were heard about the passing of Kirthi.... We'l never forget him. I, Anneke, will never forget his friendly face with that smile from ear to ear....I feel so sorry for you Rosa, think about you a lot and pray for loads of comfort for you and your family. Hug, Anneke and Edward Dompeling- Schouten

Never in our wildest dreams would we believe that Kirthi is gone. We are so saddened by the loss of our dear friend. We knew and loved spending time with him for 22 years! We shared fun times at Crosslinks, Mulvaney’s…dancing (!!), camping trips to Golden Ears, Manning Park, weddings, births of our children, numerous special milestones and dinners together with the Nickel family. We appreciated his help with our electrical issues when we bought our home and he was on Paternity Leave after Serena’s birth. He was so handy, smart, gentle, humble and caring. He always had a welcoming smile!! He was genuine when he asked “How are you?” He faithfully supported you, Rosa, and your children but also all those he knew and loved. No wonder he was chosen to serve as an elder at your church, this past May. We pray that the Lord will sustain you all through your grief and lift you up and carry you. We will be here for you Rosa… don’t forget that. We love you all dearly. Remember Psalm 34:18. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask…we will do our absolute best to help and be there for you. All our love, prayers and support…now and always.

Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena. We are filled with grief at the passing of your beloved husband and father, Kirthi. He was a steady man with obvious love for those around him. He was an influence in all of our lives, and we were always so impressed with how he took notice of Joel and Michael. You have shared him so well. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Much blessing to you.

Missing this very special man who was so sensitive to me....he was always there to give me a gentle hug...and a beautiful smile.

To you, dear Rosa, and to your precious children. There are some situations in life we will have to wait till we get to Heaven to find out "Why" and the sudden and unexpected loss of your dear Kirthi is certainly one of those. I'm trying to imagine the welcome into Heaven he must have received from his Aunt Lena, (Gammy to your little ones). She thought the world of Kirthi. One of the last times I was with Kirthi was when I was visiting and we needed to move mom's TV. She suggested that we call him for help in setting it up in it's new location because she was sure he wouldn't mind coming. He came, with his wonderful big smile and spent what I'm sure might have been quality family time assisting us in our little project. She knew he would come and she was right. The last time I saw Kithi was at mom's burial service almost 2 years ago. You came as a family and supported us as we gathered together to say our last good byes and we appreciated that so very much. Now he and his Aunt Lena are together in Heaven, something your family could have never anticipated but God who loves you all very much has promised to watch over you and go ahead of you, all the days of your lives. He is by your side and your ever present help and we know that he takes very special care of those who need him most. We will continue to pray for you Rosa, and for your dear children. Please accept our deepest condolences, with a great big hug!

Rosa, I first want to say Cynthia and I are so sorry for your loss. We loved seeing your family come in to church smiling and serving. Such a great family. His legacy is an amazing wife and children in the Lord. He led his family with passion, love, character and a deep love for to serve God wherever he was led to. I have one story I would love to share. This happened in July 2017 and I was doing sound for worship practice on a Thursday night. Maciah wanted to learn and be part of the media team and you and Kirthi had dropped him off at 7:15. Kirthi said he would pick him up at 8:30. 8:30 came around and the band was still practising. Maciah said " dad I won't be done till 9:15" Kirthi had you and the family in the car waiting and it was really hot out. Kirthi had mentioned that you where all waiting for him, but Maciah wanted to finish till the end. Kirthi put up a good fight to coerce Maciah to leave, but chose to believe in his son and his willingness to serve. Very patient dad !! I remember seeing you in the van waiting! I still have to laugh when I think about this. I think you guys waited for a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. He was a great man and we loved him. Heaven now has a great warrior! We are praying for you and your kids lots and still look forward to seeing you and your family come to church like Kirthi so proudly led. Love in Jesus, Gerald and Cynthia

Kirthi, your soul may rest in peace knowing what a wonderful human being God created you to be and how you fulfilled that destiny. The Lord promised to look after your family. Keith and I could not be more blessed for knowing you in our lives.

My sincerest condolences Rosa, I'm still in shock myself as I just found out! Kirthi was a great man, very spiritual, happy, good natured, intelligent, fun,......I could go on forever. I'm at work so I just called Paulina at home to tell her. She was also in shock. I will always remember the strong guy I went to school with at Kwantlen and played tennis with. Sincerest condolences

Rosa, I did not have the privelege of knowing Kirthi, although in the couple of short meetings at ACS grad '93 reunions it was evident that he was a man of faith and of integrity. I love your story - how you prayed him to Canada, and prayed for him to know Jesus long before you fell in love. Clearly, our Father brought you two together and brought something beautiful to life in each of you through each other. Your faithfulness and integrity as a couple have made a safe and loving home for your kids - and I am confident that they have a clearer picture of the love of Jesus because of you. You made a point of capturing moments, of admiring each other, of giving God glory in all things and trusting Him even when it was hard. Kirthi's journey home to the presence of Jesus is too soon for our earthly eyes and heart to grasp. I pray that your deep faith and relationship with Jesus will hold you as you grieve. May you know the Father catches your tears in a bottle and weeps with you...and may you have deep comfort from the Holy Spirit's presence through your loss. I pray that the community of faith will continue to care for you. You are loved - by so many...and especially by our Faithful Father.

Kirthi was an amazing man full of integrity and a genuine love for the Lord. He was always a joy to be around and he will be missed by so many. I will forever be inspired by his humble heart and willingness to serve anyone that had a need, big or small.

Kirthi, was a awesome Men's Breakfast Leader always organizing the meeting and making everyone feel welcome. Always seeking out prayer requests and praying for everyone. He had great messages always picked out. He always went out of his way to see how I was doing during the most challenging time of my life whether in church or Men's Meeting. He was much too young to go! Doesn't make sense. Honestly he's 10x the man I am or most others. Wow! God bless! If you need a hand with anything let me and the kids know. Bless you!

Dear Rosa & your children....I was shocked when I read your husband's obituary in the paper. My prayers and heart go out to you at this time. I remember your family from ACTK and I was always so impressed with the family unity and love that you shared with each other and your passion for Jesus. May you feel God providing for you and your family in ways beyond your wildest dreams!! Sincere condolences...Myrna

Kirthi....a wonderful man who blessed all that met him. Always the first to seek out newcomers to our church and make them feel welcome, always there to lend a hand, quick to encourage and throw out a joke. I loved seeing his heart for the Lord and hearing what the Lord was teaching him. I especially loved what He imparted to others through you both, Rosa. A wonderful man that will be dearly missed until we meet him again in heaven. You are in are hearts and prayers, Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena!

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna, Serena, & Maria & Marinus, I only just heard about Kirthi, my heart goes out to all of you. My prayers are with you & I know that you will see Kirthi again, that he has gone home to our Lord. I know too that your faith will keep you strong during this time of loss. May God Bless You All, Linda

Shocked to here the sudden demise of Kirthi although it was much too early for a gentleman by all means, loved and admired by all those who were fortunate to associate with him. It reminds me of the pleasant moments we shared during school holidays in Sri Lanka during late seventies when he was a mere kid. The constant laughter and the dimple cheeks never fades away from our minds. Your loss is irreparable. Kirthi, we miss you a lot since you left your motherland. May the noble triple gem bless your soul and your beloved family. Sakuntala Perera (a distant cousin from Sri Lanka)

I'm one of the Delta guys, and have worked with Kirthi for nearly 20 years. I'm so sorry to hear what has happened. Sometimes life isn't very fair. Kirthi was the nicest guy at Delta. He always had a minute for someone who needed help, and always had a contagious smile on his face. The number of times I bugged Kirthi over the years for "how does this thing work?"... For the last five or so years, Kirthi and I compared our hairloss and how we were dealing with it. Kirthi's passing leaves a hole that can never be filled. My sincerest condolences to Kirthi's family.

Kirthi always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He was always willing to serve with a generous heart and never seeked recognition but chose humility. I will always remember how he made sure to encourage me as I stepped out on the worship team. That meant a lot. He was faithful in all he did and set his mind to. He will be so very missed but we can rest in the assurance that he is in heaven rejoicing with the angels and we will meet again, but that time for eternity!

Dearest Rosa, Maciah, Alayna & Serena, Our hearts continue to grieve with you. With the loss of your beloved husband, father and best friend. Kirthi was a man of integrity, honour, wisdom and Godly character. We have fond memories of our time with him. Although it was much too short. The family dinners and camping trips will forever burn brightly in our memories. He was easy going, friendly, always ready to lend a hand and genuine. He cared about people. A beautiful memory I have of Kirthi is standing behind him at church, watching him sing his heart out, hands raised, eyes closed in worship to our heavenly father. Kirthi is now singing with the angels, rejoicing in God his Saviour. We miss him so much. But we will see him again. What an amazing promise that is! Rosa, we are here for you. We love you and your children. Continuing to pray for you daily. xo Much love, hugs and tears....Joanna & Ryan (Kyra & Marika) <3

Kirthi means glory in Sinhala. Indeed Kirthi putha(son) brought glory to all of us by his good manners and cheerful personality. I could hardly remember Kirthi putha getting angry at anyone even though he expressed his frustrations every now & then. It is indeed a tribute to his memory, when we consider how he reached out and helped people who were even strangers. He also encouraged his children to reach out & help children, in other parts of the world, who are less fortunate than us. Even though we are saddened by the loss of Kirthi putha, it gives us great comfort that Rosa duwa (daughter) has acted very gracefully and coped with all the funeral arrangements & memorial services. Rosa has good organisation skills & very methodical. I am sure my grand children,Maciah, Alayna & Serena, are in good hands & I pledge my help and support to the family. May Kirthi putha attain supreme bliss of Nirvana!

I worked periodically with Kirthi during my 7 years at Delta - or I should say, Kirthi took time out of his very busy schedule to help me solve problems or teach me what I needed to know to solve it myself. He was never too busy to talk to you (though you knew he must often be under deadline), about work, or our faith, or general personal feelings . He genuinely cared about everyone and it showed obviously. He was one of the best examples of a human being I've ever encountered or even read about. Everyone he touched will miss him terribly. My prayers are with your family.

Dear Rosa and family I just heard of Kirthi's passing. We did not get to know Kirthi personally but reading through the comments and condolences we are touched by the words of so many. What an amazing husband and Father and man of God he was. Your loss is unimaginal but the your memories you and your family have are truly a treasure. I must say that reading of Kirthi and his love of life and God has inspired me, Cindy to be more loving and surrendered to Jesus and to be a blessing. Dear Rosa your Mom has told me about the grace that you have been given in this terrible loss, and I know that this same Grace will continue to be with you and your family, Praying for Peace and Comfort and the everlasting Arms around you and your family. With love Steve and Cindy Schlitt

Dear Rosa, I was shocked and sadden to read that Kirthi passed away. I remember him as a lovely man with a huge smile and love in his eyes for only you. My heart goes out to you and Miciah, Alayna and Serena. Linda Garrett

I will truly miss Kirthi and his warm friendly personality. Although I was only able to interact briefly with Kirthi whenever we had Delta Product questions, Kirthi would always be willing to accommodate us no matter how small the request was. Kirthi did talk about his Christian faith and his volunteer work at church, Kirthi was and still is a true example of a Christian. It is not goodbye but see you again someday Kirthi. May God be with Kirthi and his family.

Friends are the family you choose. Kirthi was the family I chose. We were best friends since grade nine and spent almost every day together until shortly after we graduated. I have unique stories and memories with this great man that I have shared with my kids and look forward to sharing with Kirthi's children if I have the opportunity. I am so proud of Kirthi. His legacy, his example and witness as an outstanding man of character and reputation reaches beyond his time with us. Kirthi had a way of bringing out the best in those who were fortunate enough to spend time with him. His sweet, humble nature did not crave to be the centre of attention but to lift others and make them shine. I was looking forward to growing old with My best friend. My family will be hanging onto those precious memories. Kirthi was dear to me, my wife Selena, and our children Eric and Jaime. We miss him.

I've not been the same since I've heard of Kirthi's passing. Kirthi meant the world to me, and I owe everything to him. He hired me right out of school, and gave me a great opportunity to restart my career. He was not only a great boss, but a wonderful friend and mentor. My heart goes out to Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena.

Whenever I think of Kirthi, his smiling face comes in my mind. We all were so pushed by this sad news. I pray that his soul rest in peace and may Lord give the strength to his family to face this difficult part of life. I remember how helpful he was, and one could trust him blindly every single time. Very less pious hearted people like Kirthi become a part of our lives and I feel so sad when they are no more with us. I believe that the small chats with him used to make everyone's day. I remember the pictures of his family hung on the wall of his office and he very gladly used to tell about his dearest family. May God bless his wife and three cute kids.

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, Sadly, we heard of Kirthi's sudden passing earlier this week and our thoughts and prayers are with you, his precious family. I remember Kirthi's permanent smile and his friendliness when attending Christ the King. May you sense God's comfort and Peace in your time of grieving. May our Father give you strength and may you be surrounded by His Presence. Nick & Clara,

Rosa, Mariah, Alayna, and Serena, We are heartbroken at the loss of our dear friend, Kirthi. We have so many precious memories from our weddings, the arrival of our children, numerous birthday and family get together, and the many visits to our home, after he had helped put the kids to bed, to fix our family computer. Over tea and dessert we would chat about our families and lives. He always made us feel important, cared for, and loved. When he said it is so good to see you, you knew he meant it. Kirthi will be greatly missed. What a blessing his life was to so many. Love to you all.

Dear Rosa, I am heartbroken and shocked. Just came to know about Kirthi. I worked for 2 years at Delta. He was a great mentor, ever smiling, most nicest boss I ever met. I am so sad. He was a wonderful man. I wish you and the kids best of luck. May the god be with you. Sincere condolences. Jas

Dear Rosa, So sad to hear of Kirthi's passing. Sincere condolences, David

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, It was a deep shock to hear of Kirthi's, your father's passing. Today's memorial was a testament to who he was and how many lives he touched. He left a great legacy as testament to GOD's great love for all of us. I remember how 25 years ago when I met him, I could tell that there was something exceptional about him. He was there for me when I was diagnosed with kidney failure, and again at the failure of a relationship. When I awoke in the hospital after my kidney transplant, he was there. I later found out that he had been there for a few hours. He was also there to share in one of my best days when he honoured me by being my "best man" at my wedding to Rose. No mater what, Kirthi never abandoned me and I will never abandon his memory. I can only strive to be a fraction of the man, husband and man of GOD that he was. May the Lord Jesus supply you all with peace and blessings in abundance.

Kirthi was one of the kindest hearted, welcoming and such a reflection of Jesus. Colby and I had talked in the past, a few times, about how Kirthi was such a nice man, and would go out of his way to talk to Colby, to make him feel welcome at Church. I'm so thankful for that. Continuing to pray for you Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena- and the rest of the family during this difficult time.

I only new Kirthi from the men's breakfast at the church on Railway St. I came to love and appreciate the little bit of Kirthi that i came to know once a month for over 2 years. I was soon expecting an email about starting up again this fall. Instead i received this sad news. I was their today for the service and while i enjoyed it all i was so glad to see the pictures at the end to get to know him a little better. After I received the news a text came to my mind that described Kirthi to me found in John 13:35 " By this will everyone will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another. He was and he did ! He showed humble leadership and enthusiasm plus he only served himself after he had served others first. I only knew a small but significant part of him so I can't imagine your sense of loss but you have my prayers and deepest condolences. Your brother in Christ. Dave Smart

Dear Rosa and family, My sincere condolences! I had not know Kirthi very long however it seemed a lifetime. I enjoyed being greeted by Kirthi and Rosa at church each Sunday. Such a beautiful couple! I will miss Kirthi's genuine warmth and love although I know it will shine through his three beautiful children! Prayers to the family while Kirthi rests in the arms of Jesus!

Dear Rosa and children, We were in shock when we heard that Kirthi had passed away so sudden and at such a young age. It must be so hard to cope with the loss of your husband and father. We send you, also on behalf of Ronald and Mark, our sincere condolences. Sadly we could not often spend time with Kirthi because of the big distance. But we heard about your lives from Evert and Margriet and we liked the pictures of your lovely family, you sent us every year by email, a lot. All of us have very good memories of the holiday we had in Canada in 1995. That was the first time we met Kirthi and we were impressed by his warm personality. Our sons, then 9 and 7 years old, still remember the nice time they spent with Kirthi and Rosa. They were very fond of Kirthi. Dear Rosa and kids, our thoughts are with you and with the rest of our family in Canada. Aunt Greet and Uncle Bert, France/Holland

Oh Rosa & your's & Kirthi's wonderful children. Your husband & Dad was a great man and that is so admirable . My deepest prayers and condolances are to all of you right now during this difficult time . I wish blessings upon blessings for all of you in the years to come . Jesus loves you all very much and will take care of all of your hearts . I pray that when the tears come that the smiles will too because he always had a smile on his face , that smile that you will see again in heaven on that one sweet day .

Rosa and children ... we ache for you and the grief that you are experiencing and will continue to live through the rest of your life. The sorrow is great, but God's grace will carry you through. God does have a reason for this, a bigger picture. Kirthi's loss will have great impact. You and the children will certainly grow in compassion for others and their loss. Shared grief binds people together in a way that others do not know. We trust that God will work this together for your good, and that of Maciah, and Alayna, and the good of Serena. From a human perspective it can't possibly be so, but from God's perspective it will be so. There are so many promises from God that we need to hold on to. My last memory of Kirthi was at Playland in July at the Delta family day. In passing we stopped and chatted for about 10 minutes. You both are so caring and take the time to talk with people. Near the end of our conversation Miciah joined us. I also remember last year, again at Playland, but this time your whole family was together when Craig and I chatted with you for a bit. And you Rosa, asked how we were doing with the loss of our daughter Velissa. That is your caring heart. Your already natural caring heart will be even deeper now. May God use you and your children to carry on Kirthi's legacy of love for his God, and love for people.

Dear Rosa and family, we were very sad when we heard the news... We wish you all God's strength in this very hard and painful time. It is good to know Kirthi is in heaven. We hope you find courage to trust the Lord and find rest in His love for you. Lots of love Lieneke, Pieter and Samuel Kodde (The Netherlands)

Dear Rosa and family. So sad to hear of the sudden passing of your husband, father, son (in-law) and brother. Just very recently your parents Evert and Margriet were with us here in Houten, where they spoke so warmly of Kirthi and you and your family. The words in the obituary express your loss, but also your affection for him, and the comfort you derive from knowing he has gone to be with the Lord. Our thoughts are with you all as his memorial service will be held. Hetty Olthuis Vonk

Evert, Margriet, Rosa en kinderen en Ellen en Dorothy. Heel veel liefs van onze familie! Wij leven met jullie mee. Greet Don-Olthuis, Olthuis family

Kirthi - I just wanted to say thanks for being my friend for so many years. Thanks for the laughs. Thanks for so many memories. Thanks for the many times you gave me a ride home or dropped me off at the car mechanic. Thanks for those silly Christmas ties you wore every year at the Christmas party. Thanks for the jogs around the streets of Cloverdale when we were training for the Sun Run. Thanks for stopping by my desk in the morning just to say hello and see how I was doing. And thanks for the countless times you listened and offered your advice and support when I came to you for help. You were a good friend. I will miss you. Rosa, Maciah, Alayna, and Serena – My heart is saddened by your sudden loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Rosa and family. There are no words to express the shock of Kirthi's passing. We first met through Cross Links over 20 years ago. Great times and memories. Our hearts are broken that he was taken too soon. Condolences to you and the kids. Sending prayers for peace, comfort and acceptance. Love Mark and Linda Van Slageren

I have worked under Kirthi over the course of about a year and half at Delta Controls and have learned so much from him. He was a great mentor, teacher, and a kind and caring manager. He always put his team first and took care of us both in and out of work. If someone needed help, he was always the first one to volunteer and lead the others by example. He treated his team like a second family and that's how we will remember him. My condolences go to his lovely wife and beautiful children.

Myself and my wife Michele are shocked and saddened for your loss to you and your family. Kirthi was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I knew him in the work setting for the most part, always a smile and would say hi to everyone. One summer we ran into your family down in Bayview camping. I got to watch Kirthi as a father to his kids and he was an amazing father, lots of patience and involvement. Our hearts go out to you and your family.

Dear Rosa and Family, I'll always remember Kirthi's smile and his warmth. Whenever I would pop into his office to ask one of a thousand or so questions, he would always greet me with, "Mr.Andy! What's happening man?" Kirthi always took time to help out wherever he could, and he always did it with that smile. He always had our backs. Kirthi, I'll miss you man. You were a true pleasure to work with. I always enjoyed learning from you. My heart goes out to you Rosa, Miciah, Alayna and Serena. I hope you can take some comfort that Kirthi was truly loved and admired by his colleagues. Sincerely, Andy Beaveridge and Family

Dear Rosa and children We are hugely hit by the message of death of your beloved husband and loving father. We could not really believe it but you were greatly affected by this loss. We now also notice that it's a pity that the distance is so big and we want to show you sympathy in this way. When we think of Kirthy, your wedding is the first to be present and meet Kirthy, an unforgettable memory. We then met a warm personality, paying attention to the people around him. And from later messages and pictures a loving and caring father. What will you miss him, with sorrow in our hearts we wish you a lot of strength in dealing with this loss. We also live with the other family and especially your father and mother, my sister and sister in law and brother-in-law. Uncle Jan and Aunt Jose Mensink, Nijmegen - Holland

I met Kirthi thru working with ESC/Delta. And unfortunately, I only got to interact with him when i had in-depth questions, or i was looking for a unique solution to a problem. Kirthi, although always busy, never turned me away. He always gave precedence to ESC's problems, with an understanding that we are all working on the same team. Kirthi's personality was certainly unique. His outlook on life seemed be be very uplifting and positive. After each dealing with Kirthi, I can distinctly remember having a smile on my face, and feeling a sense of gratitude to the level of help Kirthi was always willing to provide me. He was and is a very generous and friendly man. I'm so very happy to get the chance to share my opinion of this wonderful man. I want Kirthi's family to know that he was absolutely loved at his work place.

Dear God, Please take of Kirthi the way he takes care of everybody and hope he is in divine peace wherever he is. He was always there and ready to help anyone who needed or went to him seeking assistance (which included me). We used to have a chit chat everyday during lunch, my interaction has been not for very long but I could say with closed eyes that everybody would want him as their closest friend. My deepest condolences to Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena and all his relatives and friends and hope Almighty gives everyone the strength to come out of this moment of utmost grief.- Vijay

Dear Rosa and Family Words are not enough to express how sorry I am for your loss and please know how very saddened and unexpected I am for the loss of your beloved one. I send you our deepest condolences for you and for your family. I can't imagine how painful it is for you and having lost someone is a difficult moment of life. I can't even now forget his smiling in church on Sunday morning. May God provide you the strength you need to cope with this difficult situation. My thoughts and prayers are for you and family. Much love in Jesus Christ, our Lord

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, We are deeply shocked by hearing the sudden demise of Keerthi Malli. When Keerthi and Nirosha was in Sri Lanka we all went to school together and I can still remember how much Keerthi was innocent. We all played cricket together and he had lot of patience than us. As I clearly remember he was a cute guy with a great smile, superb qualities and plenty of determination. In this sorrowful moment we wish to convey our deepest sympathies to you and your family! Sorry that we are unable to be there to share your feelings. We wish Keerthi Malli the supreme bliss of Nibbana!!! Further, please accept condolences of Margi Nanda, Wiki Mama, Varuna and the family….. Chaminda Aiyya, Hiranya Akka, and the boys… Sri Lanka

Dear Margriet, Evert, Rosa and children: Rosa, although we do not know you personally, we know what a loving family you are part of and were so saddened to read of Kirtha's death. We were clients of your Mom's, Rosa and we just want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We hope there will be some comfort knowing that he is with Jesus and that he lived a life for Him.

One doesn't meet many people with a soul as pure as Kirthi. He managed to put a smile on our faces no matter what kind of a day we were having. Thank you for being a part of our lives Kirthi. We will miss you.

I have some cool stuff at home. All of it with my “JVN” initials on. I have Bluetooth speakers that pipe music around my home, particularly at weekends. I have a powerful lamp that I keep in the car to keep me safe in emergencies. I have my cool-bag that I use to bring my lunch to work every day. All of these items, and many more, Kirthi gave to me each year, and the rest of his team at work, as part of our end of year celebration. The man loved to give, and take nothing in return. Kirthi’s caring, thoughtful nature meant that he loved to share. He gathered his team every month, not just to feed them pizza or sandwiches, but to tell them what was happening in our world, and check they were happy. No-one in our organization was more diligent at caring and informing his people like they were his own family. Management is like parenting, and Kirthi understood that in abundance. When we had important guests visiting the workplace, Kirthi represented us better than anyone. He would show off his operation and team with vigor, enthusiasm, humor, technical knowledge, insight, but above all passion. Just like everyone around me, working with Kirthi was a privilege. I always, I mean always, left his office feeling better than when I went in, with a smile on my face. There are fewer smiles in the world now, and that saddens us all. I will miss him a great deal. And I can’t imagine, in years to come, there will be many days when I don’t pause and think of him, and smile broadly. My sincere condolences to Rosa, her family, and all that are touched by our loss.

Dear Rosa and family, Kirthi, your husband and father of your children, was an amazing man who I was fortunate to know. He always had a warm friendly smile and handshake to offer when I would see him. He emanated love and positivity sharing that with those around him. Kirthi was an example of how people should be making a positive contribution to those he touched. We wish you and your family peace. Thank you Kirthi for the good memories.

Rosa and family, Please accept my condolences on the passing of your husband. I was so sorry to hear about this tragic loss. Your testimony is so encouraging though. That he is a follower of Jesus is what makes all the difference as we will see him again, and we know that he is with the Lord now. I pray that the God of comfort will be with you and your family in the future to ease your pain and bring closure. As you continue in this world, please remember the words of the Lord to Joshua... "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9. May the Lord richly bless you.

Dear Rosa, Miciah, Alayna and Serena, Our hearts feel sad with you on your wonderful husband and dad's passing. We have memories of his great smile and laughter and how much he loved all of you! Know that you will not be forgotten and that you have many people who love you and will be there for you now and in the days to come. May God give you peace. Keep all those memories of him close to your heart. He was a special man. Sending our love and prayers as you go through this difficult valley.

He shouldn't have gone before me dear Rosa.... I am Kirthi's elder sister after all.... I was with him before he migrated to Canada... Rather he was here with us in Sri Lanka... My Malli (younger brother) and my only brother... He was never unkind to me... Nor has he ever bullied me... He was a very mild person... That's how I remember him... We were poles apart as you know... But we were never unkind to each other.... Those who knew him in Sri Lanka (most of them older to him...) remember him with love and affection... From our childhood nanny to everyone who knew him till he migrated, are all praying and engaging in meritorious deeds in his name in their own small way... Naturally all these blessings will transcend to you dear Rosa and the darling kids Maciah, Serena & Alayna.. After all Kirthi was the other side of you and kids just like in a coin.... May the noble triple gem bless you all always.... Rasika

Dearest Rosa and kids, I am still in shock over Kirthi's passing and can not believe he is no longer with us. In these terrible times I am so thankful for our faith in Christ to hang on to. Kirthi was such an incredible person. He was so kind and giving. Always willing to help. And that smile of his was something else! It would light up a room. My funny story about Kirthi is that when we were together and I would introduce him to others as my cousin, people would always give a strange look between the two of us 'like how could we possibly be cousins?' I would proceed to tell them 'well, just look at our dimples, can't you tell now?' And we would both smile big showing off our dimples and then people would nod and say 'oh, I see it now' and Kirthi and I would just laugh. And of course, a big memory was your wedding day since it was on Sebastiaan's birthday and that I just gave birth 4 days earlier. I was so upset I couldn't make the reception but I remember the love then and I know that same love was still between you 19 yrs later. You will always be Kirthi and Rosa to me. I love you all xoxo Elsabee

No words can really express the loss you Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena must feel. But I want to tell you guys a few things that I remember about your husband and Dad. From our early days of coming to Life Spring (ACTK) I remember your family standing as greeters at the door with smiles on your faces and welcoming each and everyone of us to church. Thank you for that. It made us feel comfortable there. Kirthi's smile will last forever in my memories. Another memory I have since the beginning of us coming to that church is that you two were always up the front as a pair to pray over people as needed, and that was awesome. And Rosa, you guys must just like kissing in public.

Dear Rosa and Family,Our hearts broke for you and your children when we heard of Kirthi's passing. We will always remember him as the man who loved his family and and always a smile on his face. And yet his love for his and our God so much more.We know he is looking down at you and the children and missing you all as much as you miss him.We pray that you all are feeling God's love surrounding and holding you in his arms at this time and he always will. With much love and prayers send your way. Doug and Joanne Henry ♥️

Daar Rosa and family, It is so hard to believe... We pray for all of you and cry with you at the other side of the world. May God's strong arms be underneath you and His love surrounding you day by day. Sincere condolences, André, Marjolein (Adam and Gijs)

Dear Rosa and children, My heart is heavy over this loss and for you to have to experience this is just unthinkable. Every human being is unique and so is their loss but some are way more special than others. That was Kirthi.

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena we love you very much and are so sorry for your unexpected loss of Kirthi, we are in shock and deeply saddened. Our hearts are with you all. Words from Amir as he remembers Kirthi: We are all shocked and devastated by the news May god give you and your family the strength through such a difficult time. Also know that we are there for you and if there is absolutely anything we can do no matter how small, please do not hesitate to ask. Kirthi and I had chatted about getting together as a family last summer however that sadly never happened however I do have great happy memories with Kirthi when we were younger and driving classic minis, playing badminton and just hangin out that I will forever cherish

Dear Rosa , I am heartbroken for your loss. I wish Kirthi was still here. I will always remember how kind and good he was. Both of you always made time for me even when you were dating. I remember once when you both took me out to Earl's in Surrey for my birthday dinner.

Kirthi was a man of God and impacted people's lives. Whenever we would be greeted by him, he always had the biggest smile and a warm welcome, and we always felt wanted and loved. His presence here on Earth will be missed, but we celebrate that he is with our heavenly Father. One day we will all be reunited. We pray blessings and God's incredible overwhelming love to you and your family in this difficult time. Love from Justin and JaeNelle Busch

We were saddened to hear of Kirthi's sudden passing. May the Lord wrap His arms of love and comfort around you and the children in the days ahead and give you strength and courage as you adjust to this new chapter in your lives.

Dear Rosa, Maciah Alayna and Serena my deepest condolences for your loss. Kirthi was a loved and I was shocked of this news, praying for you and your family, I will not be at the memorial on Saturday. Pat Hood.

Kirthi was always the one who made me feel instantly welcome when visiting the church. Being back from Romania to Canada for short times makes it easy to feel "outside". Kirthi always broke through that with his smile. What a wonderful man. God Bless your family as you walk this difficult time of missing him, yet knowing God's peace that he is being welcomed by our kingdom family in heaven.

Dearest Rosa and loving family of Kirthe I am so very saddened to hear of your significant loss so unexpectedly. You and Kirthe were generously friendly to Donna and I when we recently came to church. I can't tell you how much it meant to us when you took time to get to know us. I will never forget Kirthe's big smile and passionate eyes. God bless you richly as you grieve this loss. Donna will be shocked when I tell her. Praise the Lord for Kirthe's service for the Glory of the Kingdom for which he so obviously had lived wholeheartedly.

I was saddened and shocked by this terrible news. I believed it was a very poor joke. With several tears falling on and off, I regret not being able to arrange our coffee meeting. I always saw Kirthi as a mentor in the church. One of the biggest reasons I was a part of men's breakfast was because of Kirthi. Often he'd get there just before me and start getting things ready. He may not have cooked but he was an organization person and some days my personal councillor and a crutch when I just needed a friend. Kirthi started bringing Maciah to men's breakfast and I was overjoyed to have a willing and enthusiastic helper. Kirthi was a great voice of reason in most of our conversations. I'm going to miss him greatly but I'm certainly sure that he'll meet me again in heaven. Thanks Kirthi for being someone I could look up to in my life.

Dearest Rosa, Maciah, Alayna & Serena, Ross and I were saddened and heart broken to hear of Kirthi's passing. He was a man of integrity, honesty, love and kindness. He had a servant's heart that extended to everyone that he met and a smile that can never be forgotten. His faith and love to follow Jesus and serve others was evident in his daily walk. He was an amazing husband and father that was taken far too soon. As Ross and I were reminiscing we remember the first time we met you and Kirthi. It was at Manning Park at a marriage retreat during which time we were blessed to hear your story of how you prayed Kirthi to Canada. We were touched by the abundant love and faith that you had then, and we pray that that same love and faith can carry you through this difficult time. You remain in our thoughts and prayers always. Ross & Debbie

Words fail us in being able to express our sincere sympathy at the loss of your beloved husband and father of your children. We feel so honoured in being given the opportunity to have known Kirthi. One thing we will always remember is his "smile", among his many other wonderful qualities. The pain is great in your hearts, but we know that Kirthi truly loved the Lord, and is with his Father in Heaven, where you will meet again. Our prayers are with you Rosa, Miciah, Alayna and Serena, and that you feel the comfort of His arms around you.

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, We have never met however I have lovely memories of growing up with Kirthi for a very short time in Sri Lanka. He was a very intelligent child with a kind heart. Our most heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and may God protect his soul forever. Yours sincerely, Bhaggya Perera (a distant cousin-in-law of Kirthi, Nirosha and Rasika)

Rosa: there are no words that can express how sorry we are to hear of your loss. Kirthi was the love of your life, an exceptional husband and father. An amazing man who loved you, Maciah, Alayna and Serena with everything in him. God took him from you much too early.....he must have a special purpose for Kirthi. Stay strong Rosa...until you see him again. Our sincere condolences.....Jim and Lyn Veenhof

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna & Serena, We were so shocked & saddened to hear of the passing of your dear husband & father. We wish to extend to you our condolences and let you know that we are praying for you. May you feel God's loving arms carrying you through these very difficult days. May you also find comfort in the sure promises of our Lord (and your husband & father's Saviour), that he is now home with his Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ. With Love in Christ, Bill & Clare Tinsley

Kirthi - your presence made us all feel welcome and I will always remember your kind heart, humbleness, sincerity and tenderness. I think of your servant heart and a man that I looked at and admired. Kirthi - you will be truly missed and you were taken far too early. Rosa, Maciah, Alayna, Serena our prayers are with you!! - Geoff, Kim, Kade and Tait Lee

Dear Rosa, What a terrible shock and tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. May you feel comfort and peace in the midst of the grief and loss you bear. Xo

Hi Rosa, It was with shock that we read about your husband's death. We did not know him but we want to send you and your children and also to your parents our condolences. You are in our thoughts and prayers and may your faith strengthen you and uphold you in days ahead. With our love, Hank and Alice

Rosa I'm sorry for your lose. I've only known Kirthi for a short time. He always went out of his way to say hi and was always encouraging to stay the course on following the Lord . Deppest regards Robert .

Dear Rosa, Maciah, Alayna and Serena, I was so sad to hear of your Dad's passing. Your Auntie Dorothy has always said such nice things about him; how kind he is and how he follows Jesus. What a special man! I admire him. I looked at his picture today - he has a great smile! Rosa, your loss is deep. May God meet you and your family in the most incredible ways; that you would feel Him providing for you in every moment. Sincere condolences, Jodi
