Penelope (Penny) Irene Tittle

June 23rd, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Penelope (Penny) Irene Tittle on June 23rd, 2016 at St. Michael’s Care Centre in Burnaby, B.C., at the age of 72.

Penny is predeceased by her mother, Betty Barbara Patoki; father, Frank Ralph Tittle and brother, Richard (Rick) Trefiak.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Colleen Denniss; brothers, Brian Tittle (Jane), Bruce Tittle (Krysia), Nick Trefiak (Diane); nieces, Amber Matthews (Connor), Brandi Levesque (Albert); nephew, Jesse Trefiak; great nieces and nephews, Apple, Django, Arlo, Rolla, Leis, Paisley, Artyenna and long-time friend and care giver Candus Churchill, along with aunts and countless friends.

Penny was born in Vancouver and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and liked her Saskatoon Berry Pie.

She loved music, dancing and gardening.

Penny was a very thoughtful and generous person who always remembered everyone on every special occasion, and was there to lend a helping hand whenever she could. Even if a friend needed a place to stay she’d happily say “Come on over!”, then made you feel right at home.

She was meticulous in being organised and kept everything neatly logged in books.

Words can’t express the impact she had on so many people… more than she ever knew. Caring but feisty and always spoke her mind!

Sadly she experienced much illness over the past several years but is now pain free and in a better place.

A Celebration of Penny’s Life will be held this Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 1:00p.m., in Lochdale Hall, 490 Sperling Avenue (at Hastings Street), Burnaby, B.C.

Should friends desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Penny’s name, appreciated.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

I lost a sister today, But did not lose her love. She was set free from her pain, And now soars free as an eagle above. Whenever music plays to my ear, I know dear Penny by my side is near.

R.I.P. Sorry I can't be at your celebration of life because I am not well my self, but I know you are at peace.

I was so sad to hear of Penny's passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and close friends. We all lost a very special lady. Penny was truly a beautiful soul.

As we would head for the gig at Richard's on Richard's I remember wondering "What will Penny wear tonight? Will it be a fur coat? Will she wear a hot red jumpsuit? What color will she have on her beautifully manicured nails? Oh and what shoes?" Penny was a constant friend for the Ron Haywood & Stripes band and many others who shared the love of music and dance. When I married Cliff the guitar player, she remained a constant friend of ours as we grew and had family. The Birthday cards and phone calls were always on time and full of fun and laughs. Her spark her fire her laugh and her fabulous red hair will forever be remembered by those who loved and knew her. Rest in Peace Penny and thanks for all the memories.

Penny lived her life in the moment. She drew me out from my shell and abetted all my cheeky adventures in early twenties. We had many great memories created together, she was the best co-pilot ever on speed trips to Seattle, Bothell + Bellingham. Her warmth for others was boundless, even while letting us know its "her way or the highway". We were honoured with a Great Friend who felt more like the sister we all wished for. Till we meet again Penny; save a seat in heavens Denny's for me, we will again giggle like schoolgirls together.

Penny was my first friend when I moved to Canada in 1980 and we were great friends ever since. We shared so many wonderful times together and were there for each other during times of struggle or sadness. I still can't grasp the idea of her not being in my life on this earth but she will be in my heart always. Wow, as I'm writing this I just saw my first dragonfly of the summer dancing outside my kitchen window. That was the name of the band I came to Canada with and where Penny and I met when she came to our first show! And she knew I collected dragonflies back then so she always bought me pins and anything with dragonflies on it. Penny is sending me signs that her spirit is still with me. And that makes me smile.
