Shirley Catherine Bruce

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Catherine Bruce (nee Stockford) and also happiness that she is free from the many health problems she had these last 14 years. Shirley passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016, with husband Earl and sister-in-law Valerie by her side, daughter Cori and son Jeffrey’s presence in her final hours provided Shirley with comfort and love also. Shirley was predeceased by her mother Kathleen (1972), father Wes (1990) and sister Doreen (2015). Shirley is survived by husband Earl of 38 years, brother Larry (Jill), daughter Cori (Andrew), son Jeffrey (Karma), granddaughters Emily and Sarah, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Words cannot express Earl’s gratitude for the love and care Shirley received these last 5 years by the caring staff at Brookside Lodge. They loved her and cared for her as their own family. Earl would like to acknowledge Shirley’s team of caring physicians throughout her life, Dr. P. Methven, Dr. S. Swart and Dr. Samoil.

Special Thanks to Dr. Gonabady, Dr. Soubbotina, Dr. St. John at Langley Memorial Hospital for their ongoing care and support of Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society in Shirley’s name. A memorial service /celebration of Life will be held on April 18th @ 1 pm @ Christian Life Assembley. 21277 56 Ave, Langley, BC.

I have many wonderful memories of Shirley . We went to General Gorden Elementry School and Kitsilano Highschool. We tried to stay in touch but life just gets in the way. Rest in peace my dear friend. I will never forget you

Shirley will be dearly missed. Glad you are at peace now and free of all painful challenges you had to go through, you were such a beautify kind person, will miss you tons. Also miss her husband Earl as he was part of our family and was doted on his beautiful wife. She couldn't have asked for a more caring/supportive husband.
