Tove Marie Dagoe

June 4th, 2013

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Tove was born in Viby, Denmark.

She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Knud Erik, in 1994 and her many older sisters and brothers, all in Denmark.

Tove is survived by her three children - Shelley (Bent), Ulf, and Gorm (Brenda); four grandchildren – Linda, Paul (Amy), Mona (Bill), and Sean; as well as six great-grandchildren – Sara, Kyla, Linden, Cameron, Morgan and Christianna. Also surviving is one younger brother Knot in Denmark.

With her husband Knud Erik Dagoe and three children, they immigrated to Canada in April 1958.

She moved back to Denmark in 1971 and stayed there until her final return to Canada in November 1990. Her three children were there already so it was an easy decision for her.

We will cherish our many fond memories of her. She was always kind, helpful, and considerate of others. She seldom complained and enjoyed her life in Surrey, BC with her family.

She mentioned many times that the following 20 years, were the best years of her life - comfortable, no financial worries, and her three children and their children close by.

She loved to read, knit, crochet, do crossword puzzles and watch TV. Sadly, these passions were cut short some years ago due to losing much of her sight. Still, she persevered and became very fond of audio books.

Her love of her family, including her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren was certainly the most important thing in her life. She was generous with them and never missed a birthday or important event.

She also loved Rennie, her miniature poodle. She was her constant and loyal companion for 17 years until she passed away almost 3 Yrs. Ago.

She was admitted to Royal Columbian Hospital on March 12th with worsening medical problems. Sadly she did not recover and was admitted to Laurel Place Hospice on Tuesday, May 28th where she passed away quietly and peacefully the following Tuesday. The staff there was kind, compassionate, and helpful. We appreciate the comfort and care they provided in such a peaceful and pleasant environment.

There will be a celebration of Tove's life in a month or so at the Hall adjacent to the Danish Church in Surrey, BC. We will advise family and friends in advance.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

Good-bye Mom. I will always miss you and think fondly of the many years we shared together. You were always considerate and helpful and rarely asked for anything in return. It was my pleasure and honor to try to make your later years as comfortable and secure as I could. The emptiness I'm feeling now will gradually fade but there will always be a place in my heart for you. Rest in peace, my dear mother.
