Walter Friedrich Schmidt

Walter Friedrich Schmidt, born in Germany July 23 passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2011 in Abbotsford. Walter will forever be cherished and loved by his wife of 52 years, Marianne and son Danny.  Survived by 1 brother in Germany, Gerd. He is remembered with love for his amazing work ethic, passion for boating and his craftsmanship. Danny referred to his Dad as the “best Carpenter in the world”. The walls of Walter and Marianne's home are adorned with photos of his family and mostly of his precious wife that he dedicated his life to and was committed to caring for her every need. He also really enjoyed spending time with his friends and fellow countrymen at the Canadian German Club in Chilliwack where a service will be held to commemorate Walters’s life. All are invited to attend at 2:00pm on Saturday January 7, 2011 45910 Alexander Ave. in Chilliwack, BC. Memories and condolences can be shared at the family’s on-line Memorial Register.

Dan, Although we never met your father, you can take solace in the fact that your father instilled that same work ethic and passion for carpentry in the work you did for us.He will always be in your heart working right beside you. Celebrate the fact that you shared a true friendship and love for a family member that many don't get to experience!! Blessings to you and your mother.

It's been almost a month now and It feels like you're still here with us. We love you so much you are with us every day and will never leave our hearts. Only problem is, we can't see you ..........

Dear Marianne and Danny,our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you both. Walter was a great friend of ours and we will miss him greatly. Liebe Marianne und Danny, Walter war so ein freundlicher und guter Mensch . Wir mochten ihn sehr. Gerne denke ich an 2002 zurück als ich zu euch nach Chiliwack reiste oder als Marianne und Walter 2006 uns am Bodensee besuchten. Es war immer eine schöne Zeit mit euch. Marianne and Danny, I am so very sorry to hear of Walter's passing. He was a wonderful man and I know you will miss him. I am so thankful that I got to know him as well as I did. It is such a shock to hear this news. I will see you on January 7th for sure. Kathy
